hi, i managed to get a place in college doing photography :D yesterday i had my first class and now i have to find a theme. i like all types of photography but im pretty sure i want to do something with people, i like photographing people and i havnt yet but id like to get out taking photos of strangers, i like street photography. id love to photograph different cultures. its not all about the photos though, i need a reason for them like a story behind it. so anyone have any ideas for a theme i could focus on? thanks, dan.

How about doing a 100 strangers project? If you go on Flickr and search 100 Strangers there is a massive group doing it. Basically permissioned street portraits where you chat to your subject, find out a little about them. I am doing it myself and it's been great so far. So many good people agree and are happy for a chat. And you also have the actual 'doing a project for college excuse' :D

I have also started college recently! I haven't been asked to think of a theme, but, that is an awesome idea!
I shall have to give that a go 'norters'
Do you give the subject any way of possibly seeing their picture once you have taken it?
Are there any 'rules' involved within this?

Another idea for a theme could be to street photograph the 'groups' that live in your local town and the times in which they show face.
For example mine... early morning we have school kids and business men, go to the same town at lunchtime on a weekday and we have wi meetings and old people swarm. Same place again in the evening and we have rowdy youths. Again at early hours of the morning we have paraletic youths and adults. About 5am we have nobody and it's brilliant.

100 strangers sounds fun! if i could find out something about each person i photograph would be good for the project! posiview, i hadnt thought of "emotions" i think that is a great idea and my favorite so far! thanks!
