.NET error message - help?

A few weeks ago I finally got round to getting an external hard drive - a Seagate 1TB GoFlex desk. It backed everything up and that was fine. I don't always have it turned on as it was slowing my already rather slow computer up by trying to back up quite often so I thought I could do a weekly back up.

At some point in the past week or so I started getting an 'Unhandled exception' message and 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object'.

A friend tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Microsoft .NET Framework to be the same version as the software uses, and that hasn't worked and he also tried a System Restore and it wouldn't restore.

I can still access the external hard drive with no problem, its just the automatic back up software that won't work.

Any suggestions or advice?

presumably this error comes from the backup software? if so what is it and have you tried reinstalling that?
Sorry, I'm being very blonde today! :bonk: Yes, I meant to say its Memeo Instant backup that is causing the problem, not the hard drive (which is fine).

Unfortunately the software came already installed on the hard drive so I've no discs to try reinstalling. My friend tried reinstalling the .NET Framework but that hasn't solved it.

Its been like this for a week or so, but since he's been working at it there has been a log file report sent to Memeo Customer Support, as since I started this thread I realised I had an email from them, so maybe they can help...

EDIT: My friend just texted to say he emailed the log files to their Customer Support, worth a try.
