No
Went to see Casino Royale yesterday ... :D

I must say I was a little cynical about the choice for the new Bond ... :cautious:

However ... despite the lack of gadgets; cars; girls; and no Q ... :naughty: ...

... I think it was a very creditable performance by a very believable (newbie/sprog) Bond ...

If you consider this is Bond as an inexperienced and green '00' ... it is just what one might expect ... raw; feisty; arrogant; and foolhardy ... but still Bond nevertheless ... (y)

In fact I got home ... and just wanted to watch the film all over again ... a great cinematic show well worth losing a Sunday morning for ... :D

Can't wait for the DVD ...

So that'll be a YAY from Ven then ... (y)

:p

Yep, saw it a couple of weeks ago. I'v never really been a Bond fan but I loved this one! Gritty, good story and almost believable! I love the fact that they made Bond fallable - he actually made mistakes!
I'm still cringing from the scene in the chair - I won't say any more for those who haven't seen it, but those who have will know the scene I mean - ouch

Not watched it yet - so no spoilers please ;)

Everyone I know who has though pretty much sums it up as you have, that its pretty good and a more creditable.

Only people I've actually heard really slag it are the various Bond fan clubs, who made it clear they hated it before filming was even started :D

I enjoyed it too. they've obviously gone for the bourne identity sort of grit this time...its hard to place bond in this one though, he's meant to be earlier but still has mobile/laptop etc. and I did like the bd5 appearance :D

The chair scene was ace ... help with an itch you cant scratch :D
Personally I thought the storyline a little weak, bit too much slop regarding the love interest for me... but Bond ... wow! he made a fab Bond!
Didnt fancy him much as Bond before I saw the film but for me, I think it was Daniel Craig's raw & moody presence which made the thing watchable to the end.

It's a yay from me to. Saw it a few weeks ago and was impressed. Though i thought the scenes in the casino dragged on a little.

Good to get a bond film without the unbelivable gadgets and to get a bond that comes out of a fight looking like he'd been in one :)

As for Daniel Craig he does make a good bond and now comes in second behind the bond master Mr Connery.

I saw it last week and I think he's a good Bond who will grow into the role. Overall I was a bit disappointed in the film, it started off well and the chase scene on the building site was astounding but the second half of the film stuttered and died a bit and tbh I started to get a bit bored - it's a Bond film for chrissakes, we need more action!

It was a shame in some ways that Q didn't make an appearance but I don't think there is a place for him now. And as for wrecking that Aston Martin - I could have wept!

The last Brosnan film was going this way, it was much darker than previous films and I think this is how they made the transition.

Not watched it yet - so no spoilers please

That's a larf WS ... most of 'em have been on trailers anyway ... :cautious: ... the spoilers that is ... ;)

But I do know what you mean ... :naughty:

And yes ... 'Ouch' ... sums it up rather neatly ...

But I would definitely watch it again ... more than I can say for some Bond films ... ... and the DVD will join the rest of the collection in the Ven household ... Jill has them all ... :D

The Bourne films crossed with MI just about says it all ... isn't there going to be another Bourne ...

:p

Saw it Sat night and whilst I loved the Brosnan series, this changes things completely - more real, closer up, harder, no silly sets. I really enjoyed it. A clean break from the past which is what Craig had to do to be believable. Looking forward to the next one!

(shame about the no naked girls in the title sequence tho ;))

(shame about the no naked girls in the title sequence tho ;))

Apparently Barbara Broccoli (Producer) wanted to reverse the female focus of the New Bond ... ... seems to have pulled it off admirably right from beginning and throughout the movie ... to the detriment of Bond Girl fans though ... :D

:p

thought it was one of the best to be fair none of the gadget rubbish that was so predictable and more like a proper spy film bit like her majestys secret service but more up to date. Will most defo be getin the DVD when its out and for those not seen based on prev Bond films, I reckon prob the best.

However ... despite the lack of gadgets; cars; girls; and no Q ... :naughty: ...

What do you mean no girls? :cautious: I think Eva Green is GIRL enough! :woot:

I've met her sister, Theresa, very nice she was too.

Theresa Murino ? :D

A picture paints a thousand words........

Hmmm ... atypical Bond girl though innit ... ... :D

Even if she has got a name to die for ... ... oh to be EverGreen ...

:p

Well I saw it a couple of weeks back and apart from a crap seat (late in) I thought it was great movie. My wife thought Daniel had a great arse and I thought the female eye candy was up to scratch too :D What more do you want from a Bond movie? :D

Sure that's not a self-portrait Glo ... :D

Oh yes Ven it is .... in my wildest dreams that is!

Lovin' it HuN ... ... I should be so lucky ... :D

:p

... You even like your women green too

I once had green hands if that counts, was for a pic ... infact over a year on & my poor mouse still wears the evidence!

Ok Kamion ... I'll do battle with ya....

Right, while looking to stock up on my "arsenal" for the battle with Glo, I stumbled across  material that caused me to exit my browser in panic. :embarrassed: I am at work after all. So, you'll get away with it for now, Glo.

Actually she didn't play a bad part ... Eva Green :)D) ... to be fair ... just not what the hardened Bond fans would call a true Bond Girl ... but she was certainly more than a challenge for our inimitable hero ... imo of course ... ;)

:p

Aah yes ... but when they are not being real ... and playing god ... sorry Bond ... surely they can't do without their gadgets ...

They seem to be more reliable than their choices in girls anyway ...

:p

Ah yes! That explains it then. It's after Casino Royale that he loses his faith in women (like all men do at one point), and then find comfort in toys/gadjets.

Hmmm! that kind of raises the point .... why do women become interested in gadgets???
He! he! .... best not go there!

I would like to hear more of what Glo's thinking :D
