Hi
I’m looking at a gimbal head to mount my D500 & 200-500 on. I’ve just seen the Gitzo GHFG1 on WEX with 15% off, making it £305, which is about my limit I want to spend.

Just wondered if anyone has this or would recommend a different one for roughly the same cost
Thanks

As Rob says, the Gitzo is excellent, but I'd also look at the Benro GH2 in this sort of price range and also the Wimberley Sidekick if you already have a decent ball head to mount it on.

also the Wimberley Sidekick

Yes, those sidekicks are possibly a good economic alternative
but to the cost of the 2mm downshift a normal gimbal allows.

Possibly with a heavier lens, such as a long prime but not being able to adjust this doesn't seem to have any negative effect using a lighter lens like the 200-500

It does, Si, the downshift is helping to stabilise the combo
when hands are off… light of heavy.

Even more so with your non IF variable configuration.

I think I get your meaning Daniel, but I always used the lens on a gimbal like a prime at 500mm so once adjusted for balance I was good to go

Just to update I have purchased the Gitzo Fluid head and I’m very happy with it:)
