Big disscussion in the office today, how do YOU pronounce it ??

Nice (as in yummy)

or

Nice (as in French town)

i think technically they are Nice (as in nice, france) they were originally released as part of a series of buscuits named after towns and cities (the well known towns of hobnob and digestive back this up)

i prenouce it NICE as in yumyum, pronouncing it any other way makes you sound rediculous and posh

i have always pronounced it as niece (or Nice, F****h town) as I have always been told thats where they originated from!

From here: http://www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.com/biscuits/index.php3
comes this explanation:

Q. Why are 'Nice' biscuits called that?

A. I don't know because they are possibly one of the nastiest biscuits ever, perhaps its sarcasm. Also if you are new to this site and are about to email me saying "Actually its because they are named after the town in the south of France" don't. They're not from there, nobody there has ever heard of them. Hop on an Easyjet flight get yourself down there and ask around, you'll get even blanker Gallic looks than usual. Back when they were invented Huntley and Palmer were knocking out over 450 sorts of biscuits, so naming new sorts of biscuits was probably a matter of just going through the phone book or index in the atlas. Anyhow I don't like them.

This was discussed by Ken Bruce on Radio 2 last week, many text messages and emails later no conclusion was formed :lol

Forgot to say I'm in the a Nice (as it French town) camp, but my other half is in the Nice (as in Yummy) camp! She's never right though :D

I've always called them "bicy-bo-bop-deluxes" it's a generic term.

it was vote 22 in the big tog house and even Steven at 50% each nail biting stuff

Agree as in "neice".....

Nice as in France. Shame they don't taste nice.

Have to disagree.... I  em.....

:woot: neice seems to be in the lead at the mo (at timeof posting) :woot:

Mines Caramac's - 500,000 sold every week  Even better now they do them in plain chocolate

Is it just me that thinks biscuits are the most pointless thing in the world? I really don't understand them. I want food that fills me up like a nice (that's yum yum nice) steak not something that's packed with sugar and calories and leaves me wanting to eat 2 more packets! [/rant]

For the record I say Nice as in yum yum nice. I did a google and everything that came up indicated there was no connection with these biscuits to Nice, France.

Those Lotus Caramelised Biscuits are fantastic :)

ps

Looks like the 'Nice' are winning at the moment :p

I dont really care what they are called :D They just deserved to be dunked in a mug of tea  Aprox 1.5 seconds should do it, any longer and you are supping a sludge from the bottom of the mug. Mind you that always tastes Nice as well
