Interesting - Would this support my DX lenses?
I previously owned a Sony a200 for a year. Even though everyone sais the D3100 is a beginner camera, I view it as a step up from my last camera. The image quality is much better and the low light handling is much much better.
Note to Ian DJ - the infra red remote that works with the D40/D60 will not work with the D3100 - I use the self timer instead.
Do you know if you get £40 cashback for Nikon D3100 when you buy it from BestBuy?
Don't worry about the lack of VR on any lens, above 1/125 and there is no difference, for long exposures you would be using a tripod and you are supposed to turn VR off with them anyway.
You know it won't autofocus?
I would go for the 35mm AF-S or wait for the new 50mm AF-S to come out.
Do any of you you find your SD cover is a really terrible fit? Mine is such a poor fit it rattles about when you handle the camera, feels really cheap and also like it's about to pop open at every opportunity. I'm actually sending it back under the distance selling regs - not sure if I should get another d3100 in the hope the cover fits snugly or not.
It would be great if you could let me know.
Though I'd add my name to this club - got my D3100 in December
Am currently looking at a Nikon 70-300 VR ( was looking at the Tamron 18-270 PZD but have been advised not to for the sake of IQ and AF speed )..
Also looking at remotes, 10 stop filters etc etc etc...oh the money....
