No Anirban, I have both Auto & Manual lenses but just prefer to work in manual mode.:)

I also prefer to work with a handheld meter (see below) taking incident readings. So if the light doesn't change then neither does the exposure value regardless of what I'm shooting. I just alter the shutter speed and aperture accordingly but keep the exposure value the same. "Works For Me".

Manual focus for macro and product stuff, otherwise AF (s or c depending on what I'm shooting, can't get used to BBF)

I'm a manual kinda guy these days. Actually changed the way I shoot this last year, manual & spot meter all the way. My way of thinking is expose for the part of the scene you want. I've noticed my overall exposure accuracy has improved and rarely do I balls up. Plus in bursts occasionally aperture priority can change at times.

Manual focus though is definitely making life unnecessarily hard.

Took the Tokina 17mm f/3.5 I picked up from eBay earlier, I didn't know what to shoot until I remembered this:

The lens doesn't handle too badly (it's bloody wider, wider than the 11mm I used to have on my DX), there is some odd distortion in the centre frame, I need to see if I can find a way to fix it in lightroom.

Exactly! I use Av when a hurry or things are changing but otherwise I'm a control freak.

MF, though - only for still lifes

That used to be my way of shooting. But being a shallow DOF whore too, once you've got the aperture nailed, it's very easy to balance the shutter speed with a suitable Iso. In reality, it's rare light levels change that drastically.

I was interested to listen to a big name wedding snapper at the photography show discuss the way they shoot. They explained that whilst the ceremony was locked down to manual mode, the minute they race outside for the shot coming out the church, theres a need for P mode to get a quick shot. I was thinking, why not have U1 set up in A with auto ISO...
 
Has anyone used/got the D7200 and able to give a comparison what the AF performance is like in terms of speed and accuracy compared to the D750? Photographylife say it's really good but opinions are varied on other internet sites. Lack of group AF not an issue.

U2 is my default manual setup with BBF
U1 is a high ISO, high shutter speed medium aperture job so if I ever need to grab and shoot fast I'm fairly certain to get the shot.

The others vary but I don't often go there.

U1 is A, auto ISO, AFC D9, auto WB - this is my grab a shot without any thought mode :-)

U2 is my flash 'go to' settings: M, ISO 800, f/4, 1/60, AFS-S, custom WB (tend to use a tungsten balance with 1/2 CTO)

Unless the quoted focal length is out (not unusual) isn't 11mm on DX actually slightly wider than 17mm on FX?

I thought Nikon was exactly 1.5.

Yep, by a whole 0.5mm :p (16.5mm vs 17mm)
