Nikon mirrorless definitely on the way

Probably because the 35mm and 50mm are the favourite walkabout one lens do it all primes. I would suspect they will make ‘general’ lenses first and then more ‘specialised/specific’ lenses after. I don’t think the 85mm will be too far away though if they’re wanting to get wedding and portrait togs on board.

Probably waiting in the wings already (after more teaser videos)

Wedding toggers need that 2.8 holy trinity zooms plus 1.4 primes

Some Wedding togs !!!

I've certainly NOT missed the 24-70 or 70-200 at all and I MUCH prefer the look too of my 35 & 85 f1.8 primes

I admit to having the 14-24 though as its FAB for how I shoot 1st Dance

No they don't, it makes their life a lot easier but they don't need to have 3 2.8 zooms plus a bunch of primes. You can get away with a 24-70, 35 and 85 for a wedding if you wanted to.

Crikey, have I stumbled into the Sony thread by mistake?

I'll be honest, only thing stopping me from pre-ordering this as soon as it's announced is , well, money :D or lack of

24-70 f4 for weddings?

Anyways Sony got laughed at by wedding toggers when they diddnt have 2.8 zooms so I assume 2.8 zooms are standard kits some wedding toggers use and then there's primes too.

Again when Sony diddnt have many 1.4 they got linched again!

I meant the 2.8, but an F4 is plenty good enough for your group shots as you're using OCF, the 35 and 85 can cover all else.

what does nikon have that sony doesn't? :D

I'm an ex-D800E owner, I loved that camera, but got rid because of size and weight, I wasn't using it near enough to justify - nowadays I love what mirrorless brings, this new kid looks to be a cross between a D800 and any of the top mirrorless today. It looks more comfortable to hold and use and i would rather Nikon's FX lenses than Sonys

Sell current gear?

No problem doing that, can you give me the other grand I'd need? :D

I would actually be very happy I think with this new Z6, kit lens and a 50mm and save on side for an 85

Oh I'll be watching it all unfold, and in the new year will decide for sure, I'm shooting with a Panasonic G80 atm, switched from Nikon to Fuji to M43 over the past few years as I was shooting less and less and just wanted capable, but light - also fell for the IBIS which I now feel I couldn't do without, same with decent touch screen

Before you even know if the performance will be any good??? Might be worse than the first gen A7 yet.

Plenty of wedding togs still use the 24-70mm and 70-200mm f2.8's :smashin:

I have interest free on my Credit Card... it better not be really good or I might be in pre-order trouble!

How do people feel about the display on the top plate?

I have to say that I just don't care :D Yes, the display tells you the settings but is this such a big deal... if I have my camera on Aperture, F5 auto ISO I'm capable of remembering for quite some time :D Actually I think I'd rather not have it and have that space taken up with something else.

Thinking about it I think the space could be better used making the controls more ergonomic.

I can sort of see how some would find it useful… you do :D but I just don't miss one at all :D

How would you make the controls more ergonomic?

You put them in the right place so that your fingers naturally find them. Obvious? No? :D

My point is that the display has to fit on the top plate and if it didn't perhaps the camera controls could be mounted exactly where they need to be.
