I finally did it - put a deposit down on a BMW 335i Coupe M-Sport. Manual transmission, in black.
Delivered end of Feb (ish).
On the road price will be £27,850.

I was going for a 2nd hand M3, but after chatting to the BMW chappie at the Frankfurt Motor Show a couple of months ago, it appears that the new 335i has the same powerplant as the old M3 (more or less). 2nd hand M3s are still going for about £24-30k depending on mileage in the UK (I was looking at a 2002 model with 43k on the clock for £24K), so what with my Squaddie discount and tax-free sales on new cars over here...I thought...'why not?'

The girlfriend still wants the 650i Sport, but I put my foot down at that - £48k (over here) and only 0.4sec faster 0-60 than the 335i...

 Nice one Rob :woot: Does that make us fellow A**holes then lol?

good use of the discounts and tax-free business. I bought a total of three motahs in my time over there.

Shame it's a bmw ;). You wouldn't catch me in another beamer.

/peers out of the window at a new Mini Cooper ?!?!?!?

Dont forget to remove the indicator stalk and sell it on.

I would say remove the bulbs and sell those too, to recoup some cost, but you'll still need your hazard warning lights for parking on double yellows (which everyone knows only apply to poor people ;))

It's hard to be mean to such a competent car mate by suggesting all owners are A**holes

So I'll settle for you being a much more friendly ****head instead :LOL::LOL:

Top buy, hope you have plenty of fun in it

A true funny - a client of mine bought the last M3 and was busy telling me all about the traction control, etc. to keep you on the road, fantastic - nearly pee'd myself when I found out he'd gone backwards through a hedge only 2 weeks into owning it :D

but its a BMW, next you will be using Nikon! omg you do

They also come with those magic windscreens (just like Transit vans) that allow the driver to sit 1 ft from the back of your bumper at 90mph in ANY weather condition - snow, rain, fog, hail, night-time... the lot)

nice car (y)

and you seemed like such a nice guy too! :p

I do have a thing about BMW drivers though, reinforced by the *ahem* lady *ahem* that decided to turn right from the left hand lane last weekend, only to find that I was already there... one crunch and a few expletives later and we're on our way... I was suitable impressed as you could probably guess :bang:. Apparently her Satnav told her to do a U-Turn so she did... :bang:

remove the headlamp bulbs and put them in some extra fog lights :)

It was offical aeons ago mate:D

But congratulations - great car :) According to my suppliers, the 3l is the de-tuned / tuned/ highly-tuned powerplant for most of the 3series range.

Did Paul tell you how much his last service was............:LOL::LOL:

 We're being a bit mean to him now...lol

Regardless of what we expect a BMW driver to be like, hehe, must say, theyre nice, purdy, and comfy cars. Enjoy it old fruit. Be careful to not run over any Germans while youre there.

God, that's an offensive colour.

BMW drivers, hmmmmmm. Some Polish Idiot in one tried to turn right into me on a piece of dual carriageway yesterday. Good job I spotted his INDICATOR!

Me? I love my 5 series. Even if the electrics do only work when they see fit lol!

Overheard a M3 driver chatting to a a guy with a lotus at an Anglesey track day a while back. As I walked past he was busy telling him "yeah I tried it with the traction control off but the wheels kept spinning".

Made my day. :D

Hope the new motor makes yours Rob. :)

I had a very hard look at both the Ford Mustang and the Dodge Charger while I was in Canada.
Only one thing - the interiors are like bog-spec Ladas...shocking! All plastic and faux-chrome trim. Really poor construction, rubbish brakes, leaf-spring suspension etc. Both cars look great, but if it weren't for those factors I'd be tempted. The other contender was the Aussie Ford Falcon GT-P GT V8 Link, which is bloody good, mate. That and the Holden Commodore SS V8 Link
Any way you cut it, Beemers are fabulous cars for the (discounted) price, though like everyone says, it's a shame about the majority of Bee-Emm drivers out there. They're even worse over here in Germany - Proper Hun Bar-Stewards...

I'm quite looking forward to throwing away the rear-view mirrors as well...lol

Hi there, i take it this is on the balloon deal, i have the 320i M coupe on it, nice car, in fact i love mine, will be getting the 335 in Aug next year.

Well I thought about that, but for the balloon deal I'd have to have loads of stupid 'extras' that I don't want, plus they're really pushing ATX cars at the moment - I wanted MTX and virtually no 'extras' - no sunroof, no GPS (Tom-Tom is wa-aaaay better than BMWs proprietary Nav system and 80% cheaper...lol), no centre console armrest, no bluetooth etc etc. Apparently that makes it harder to shift 2nd hand. I refuse to have all that crap in the car, so I'm just buying it. I was intending to keep it anyway.

Very important in that dash to the outside lane ;)

Equally as important as making the dash from the third lane to the slip road in 20 yards.

Does that model come with indicators? :p

has he bought D & G shades to wear while driving it too? and hired a blonde for the passenger seat?
nearly £28 k. EEEEEEK.paid £2k for my escort.:)
bet my bike is still quicker 0 to 60 too.
i,m only jealous.

You don't HAVE to have a blonde! Joe has got me! very brunette!!!!!

BMW driver checking in....

335i is a rather nice car, and thats a rather tasty price.

What you were told about the m3 is a little misleading. The performance of the e46 m3 and the e90 335i is similar, but the engines are totally different. M3 had a 3.2 litre six with normal aspiration. The 335i has a 3.0 litre six with two turbos. The two turbos are faily low pressure, and each drives three of the six cylinders.

Im desperate for a 335d, but they cost over £40k here (with a couple of options). At work I could get one for £800 (plus options) a month - including all running costs bar fuel.

Anyway, awesome car mate! :D

i think you will regret not getting certain extras i.e. the arm rest, leather is awesome and all the other bits they put in them at the NAAFI, they do it for a reason, its not crap some of it does benefit you in creature comforts.

Excellent! I'm currently looking for my fourth BMW. A lot of my friends drive BMWs as well and we do regular trips to Nürburgring, which are fantastic!

Two of my friends have just ordered their new E92 M3s, whereas one has just sold his Alpine White E46 M3 SMG (one of five in the UK) and placed an order for a 997 C2S; May arrival!

In fact one of the lads is selling his '07 335d for the new M3 that he ordered over the weekend. When we went to Germany last month; that car is phenomenal! Although, being of a similar performance to the E46 M3, it is a bit tiring to drive and doesn't make you drive it as hard!

All swings and roundabouts, though! Congratulations! (y)

Well the Bird in the NAAFI is really putting the pressure on for me to add some toys before it goes through on Friday, so I may cave...the Individual Sound System Option for and extra £1100 may be a possibility...lol
Deffo no SatNav though for reasons posted elsewhere...
...and yes - here in Germany I do need the extra speed to go from the slip-road to 3rd lane - have you seen the way they drive here? The tightness of the 1930's-designed sliproads means you have to be in 2nd, doing 25MPH going onto a motorway where most folks are doing 120MPH - I thrash the b****x off my poor V6 just staying alive here...

Does all this money your spending on cars mean you won't be doing your bit for "international relations" any more?

ahhh...I have a German Girlfriend now... no more swanning off to the US...lol

Welcome to the club!!!

Firstly 2 things:

1) If you haven't already spec'd it go back to the dealer and add the 6FL USB audio option. From what I've seen it'll be an absolute MUST for resale AND your own enjoyment!

2) Great price! I ended up buying a pre-reg as there was no way I could stump up the £37k for the spec I wanted (Iended up getting it all for £29k).

I've got a 330D by the way. Goes like stink (even more so once it's chipped) and returns 45mpg :)

Yes, my Girlfriend's mate works at the BMW dealer in Iserlohn and she's already had a chat with the mechanics - they work for beer or football tickets - I can get hold of both.
