I'm sure I took that otter pic :p

Oh wait, theres no motion blur from my arm shaking ;)

That jaguar shot is even more stunning on the big screen as it was on that mkIII 3" screen, I hate you :p

That lens rocks doesn't it, awesome :D

1st pic - Marmot btw

Thanks Mr C :)

Brains, you should have been there, was me with the 600 and Matt with his 800 Sigma, and about 4 others with 100-400's had lots of comments, even one of the Zoo staff stood with us for a while seemed a bit dumbfounded by the size of the lenses lol I even had one lady come over and ask to inspect my equipment, which raised a few comments from certain people ;) lol

I got plenty of comments with the 100-400 - they'd obviously not seen Ian.

Some of the comments included

"Wow!, look at the size of his lens"

"I want one of them!"

I tried for something a little different as well as taking the normal shots of the animals.

Please let me know what you think to them.

Nice shots Ian and i agree that the Jaguar could do with losing that blade of grass

Nice to see some different shots than animals Sue

Thx Alan

I would have liked to taken the first shot in portrait, to include more neck, but there was a great metal bar running horizontaly accross the frame, so had to go landscape.

Like those last three shots Alan, they are great :) Well done on using the family so well to get that dragon shot.
Shame about the wires on the lions.

Really like that Jaguar shot Ian.

Sue, your Snake shot turnedout a lot better than mine did (y)

Alan, the Tiger and the Chimps for me.

Some great shots and sounds like you had a good meet:)

I love the Jaguar shot and 1st Lion shot (big cat lover)

Great group shot FG but why did you all where the same outfits?:p

The marmosets always seem to be ready for a pose(y)

The otter pic is an awww from the wife so (y)

Great shot of the Dragon but how large was it ?

Sue number 1 and 4 work for me nice shots.

Pat

wow some great shots coming out of this :)

Sue loving that Snake shot, a little dark but i guess dark and gloomy place and glass so flash would reflect horrifically, flower shots while not being my cup of tea appear well exposed and sharp enough :) can see some big improvements in your photography here :)

Alan some great shots in your set too, my fave has to be the chimp shot :)

and Mr Hillman shame about the huge bar so you couldnt shoot portrait, but still a nice shot :) The second one needs a little more space for it to walk into but again another fine shot :)

LOL Kris :)

Pat

Hi Pat

It was about 4ft Long

Alan

Excellent stuff Guys and Gals.:clap::clap:

I've only just managed to get on my pc so only had time to process one shot.

That last shot is excellent Ian.

Here's one from my 13yr old son.

Canon 10d EF100-400 @ 400mm
f5.6 1/250 ISO100

The gunk on its back was from a slug that was stuck to it.

Sue I think the snake suits the dark finish.
I would clone out the green above, other than that its fine.

I think the pumpkin shot needs more pumkin, the stem doesn't hold enough interest for me.

For me flowers and plants are a difficult subject, I think you have found a very good angle with the hydranger. Give it a little saturation boost to bring out those colours more. (y)

Looks like everybody had a good day & some brilliant photo's.

And here's one of my Marmot shots.

So wheres Digital Failures pics then ? and everybody elses ;) Come on i wanna see the rest :)

Some good stuff so far, so no excuses !

Anthony did well Matt :) and im glad you managed to get one of the little furry critters with the bazooka :)

(y)
some good shots in this thread " nice idea ian keeping them all in one thread"
if i had to pick one it would be :naughty: im not telling

The Orang Utans look great, they were not playing ball when we got to them, and their new enclosure is not a photographer friendly as the old one.

Have to say i was well disappointed with what they have done with the Orang enclosure, its fair enough the animals have more room now, but it doesn't make it easy to look at them, especially for photographers !

I agree with you there didnt even bother with it as i spoke to Matt after he had been in

Alan

Some brilliant photos guys!
Sounds like a really great day!
I love the photos of the orangutangs and the leopard!
:)

The orangutan development was a bit disapointing for me too.
The developers could have opened the outer space up for better access to the public.
I had to move as I had women (not children) kicking my tripod in the small area that was available.
I supppose I could of aired my views to these people, but what I would have said wouldn't have
come across well in front of the children that were there.

Medp_C7E8849.jpg

Sigma 800 f5.6 1/200th ISO100

I forgot to meter for this shot, resulting in it being under exposed,
fortunately lightroom has helped recover it.
The background shows how noisey an under exposed shot can be.

So wheres Digital Failures pics then ?

Against my better judgement I'll show a couple of them.

stinky.jpg

Poooooooooo you stink.....have you had a wash today ?

otto.jpg

cooooooooooor  look at the size of them lenses......are they compensating for something?

You caught a cracking pose there with the marmots DF.
It looks like the one on the left is being bashful, as the one on the right offers up a flower.

That otter is a bit cheeky. Fancy it making a comment like that.
