Official Talk Leica thread

Hi, Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) in Wiesbaden-Biebrich/D (Leica M9 - VOIGTLÄNDER Super Wide-Heliar 4,5/15 v3 f 5,6 crop; level gauge) :

Distorted cars in the corners :

I wanted to show the difference between 2D distortion-free (typically measured) and real-life 3D distortions.

Nothing to get excited about, but to be kept in mind. One should not use a lens like this for group pics, positioning one's wife in the corner. She will never forgive you ( :D ) ....

been playing with C1 again this weekend (normally I'd use LR, even after buying C1  :ROFLMAO: ) based purely on well I bought the clucking thing, might as well use it and I wanted to see if I could sort of match my C1 ""look"" to my LR output

No I don't know if I've managed it either!

C1 is so much faster and better with noise than LR. But such a PITA to use!

Anways went to the beach last week (week before maybe?) nearly got hit by a big wave... I should stick to street!! :D

Hi, rosemary in my garden ... (Leica M9 - VOIGTLÄNDER Ultra Wide-Heliar 5,6/12 asph. screw-mount, f 5,6; crop) :

( This lens can be used even close up. However, due to the screw-mount to M-adapter, there is no metering. I used this 12mm lens for architecture, and was quite happy with the results.)

(I wouldn't see this as a "proper" use, but it can be done. If one is far enough away, the wheels appear round.)

Hi, architecture in Mainz-Marienborn/D ... (Leica M9 - VOIGTLÄNDER Ultra Wide-Heliar 5,6/12 asph. screw-mount, f 8; crop) :

(The M9 with a 12mm lens is not much fun to use: no IS, no level gauge, no live view ... I fitted my level gauge in the hot shoe, held the M9 against my stomach, and tried my best ... ---

I could have used my SONY A7R2. - What I like: the small size of the 12mm Heliar. One can always have it in a pocket ... ---)

Current findings on m10.
Feels great.
Iso options vary, but seems to be more sensitive, and ok with higher isos, experiments to follow in lightbulb/dimly lit areas.
Sensor dust, wow! Even faster than the m240. Typically i didnt bring the cleaning kit. Sigh.

Grid lines help

A few problems with live view and the leitz in bright sunlight. I will have check if the lens is moving on focus and tge camera detects no lens, so turns off evf... Irritating.

Overall, worth it i think.

Crop of the stairs :

(The last time in Biebrich I had the 18mm ZEISS Distagon with me, which was not wide enough for the stairs. 12mm was better for this ... )

... And (probably) with the Leitz 135mm ...

Hi, to be sure which lens I used, I take a pic when changing lenses. - In the film days I did not do this, because I thought it was a waste, and I had fewer lenses ... :

Is it possible to identify this old Leica from this photo or do I need more information? It belongs to my daughters partner, he says it "doesn't work" and wants to get a rough idea of it's value before getting quotes to fix it.
Thanks for looking.
