Official Talk Leica thread

Well, the Makro-Elmarit R is very good, even today. My Kipon adapter was so cheap, I don't remember its price.

(I have R lenses with 135, 180, 350, and 400mm, bought for playing around with. Modern AF lenses are more practical ... ---)

You have the novoflex adapter, so you could get a Nikon macro, unless you want to keep it in the family and go for the Makro-Elmarit R.

Of course, there is the 4/90 Elmar for M, which is expensive, if used only rarely ...
Hmm thanks, something to ponder on.
I have a 105mm macro nikkor on there atm, but it seems like it eats light and requires a lot more light or cranking up the iso (not my preferred option) hence the question of whether the macros in native m mount give more light...
I also would like more reach... :D but not sure whether to go nikon, r adaptor or something else...
Also I am unsure whether I would use it, being manual focus and me wobbling a lot (already see it's hard to see the peek focus on the 135 leitz)

Hi, the same goes for me. I am certain that I would hardly ever use my MF mocro-lenses if I bought an AF macro with IS.

I have quite a few MF tele lenses I don't use anymore since I have my AF tele zooms with IS ... ---

Years ago, I used UWAs for car events. This allowed me to get close, and to keep people from getting in my way. UWAs can enhance the impact of a car, as in #1.

However, there are unwanted side-effects. Distorted wheels in #2 and unnatural distortions as in #3.

Nowadays, I do not take wider lenses than 35mm for car events, preferring 50s, and I try to be early at car meetings, or get access before the general public.

Or I take pics of cars in motion on the road. But for this I do not use Leica equipment. My NIKON D800 with the Nikkor 4/70-200 AF is more suitable for this.

(I took the LEITZ (Leica) Summicron 2/35, because I did some shopping, and wanted a pocketable combo. But also for sentimental reasons, perhaps -

I bought it 32 years ago with my M6 starter kit, and it is somehow dear to me. - Yes, I am a sentimental old dog ... ---)

i guess it’s when not if... but it can’t be now, to much money and the £ is very weak (and getting weaker) against the €

Haha, for sure... if you look in the UK there are some well priced M10's around. Just got to manage to get them out of the UK somehow as delivery options are limited! Oh and of course, once we're Brexited from Jan 1 there maybe excise and duty to pay (just to offset the saving on the tanked pound).

1. Has anyone used an adapter to put leica l lenses on an m(10) ?
2. Best adapter for r lenses that you;ve used ? (I'm tempted with the 21mm and 180mm r lenses)
3. Which strap do you use? The typ240 mp had a nice strap, this m10 is a leather one which isn't as comfortable (but looks nice)
4. Considering a different smaller bag (I have a low pro backpack with option to spin on the waist, opening in the back) - do you use anything like this ? (I see leica store has a lot of options, expensive but nice looking)

Still getting the m10 dropping the leitz 135mm on live view / evf. Will need to check into why this is happening.

Some with the novoflex, lensbaby composer with edge 80mm inserted (it has a pull out macro part...)

135mm leitz...

3. I use a strap from a Portuguese place on one camera, but I think they’ve stop trading now. I also use one of Dave’s ( @wibbly ) which is from (iirc) 595 leather that’s made from cordovan leather- IMO a great strap

4. My small bag is this

which fits a camera with a lens and two other lenses. I wouldn’t say it was a tiny bag though.. It’s a shoulder bag though, so might not be want you want

This is the strap I have from Dave

You see, you only get bokeh impressions. This is not a rigorous test with "ceteris paribus" etc... --- But it made me curious how my 24mm Leica lenses perform.

Some people think that aspheric lenses like the SZ above always produce "onion rings". This is clearly wrong, as shown by the ZEISS Distagon 1,4/35 ZM.

Next, I shall have a look at 2 aspheric 24 mm Leica lenses. See you ...

The sun sets on 2020 and 2021 has much uncertainty...

But we can try to chose to be hopeful, we can try to chose to believe in brighter and better...

...because just maybe (maybe) there's a pot of gold at the end of all of all this darkness after all...

The Elmarit discs look smoother. Maybe, this is due to the new design of the Elmar, or cheaper aspheric lens material has been used. (In the SCHOTT glass catalogue
there are different classes of aspheric lenses based on the surface smoothness.)

So, if one wants smooth light circles, one should go for the Elmarit.

Now, is it the same with the 21mm Elmarit and the Super-Elmar? I do not know. I only have the Elmarit, and I have not found anything on this anywhere ... ---

To conclude the bokeh ramblings, I shall look at how the 28mm asph. Elmarit and the last non-aspheric version perform.

See you ... ---
