Official Talk Leica thread

I’ve looked through many pages of this thread and can’t see anything that stands out as ‘ah that’s a Leica photo’ :exit:

What is it that I am not seeing? or is it the experience of using a Leica?

The 64 million dollar question, when you know you know :ROFLMAO:

In all seriousness, it's obviously different for every person, and the small resolution images shown on the forum really don't do the full res images justice. For me its the following:-

  • The lenses have incredible detail resolution, with a very smooth bokeh fall-off
  • The cameras have a really nice tactile feel, the controls just get out of the way allowing you to concentrate on image making
  • The images need very little manipulation in post to get what I'm looking for

IMO the 43mm on the Q3 43 is astonishing (and so it should be given the price of the camera!!), but wide open I feel that it gives more of a medium format look to images than my Fuji GFX did.

But remember an average photographer will take average images with any camera!

You'll also get invitations to go on street photography walks directly from Leica at the bargain price of £950 :ROFLMAO:

Now now, thats a two day workshop, the one day ones are a mere £750...............................

10 hours one-2-one at £1,950 seems a proper bargain..............................(only because you'll get another two hours free :))

Why am I getting "Mr P is under consideration as a future trusted partner" vibes ? :ROFLMAO: When's your Motorsport through a 28mm lens day at Silverstone ? :exit:

You people living in the south obviously pay inflated prices, Leica Manchester just announced photo walks, cost £10

Yeah, but that’s not ‘proper’ Leica, just a concession shop that’s why it’s cheap. :ROFLMAO:

Hi, it is quite easy to demonstrate Leica superiority.

SONY A7 - FE 2,8/35 - Currywurst :

LEICA M9 - Elmar 3,8/24 - Oysters :

Leica pictures are more sophisticated.

Even the untrained eye can discern the complex holistic aesthetic harmony.

I think you've had good answers to this already.

Away from the actual photos I suspect a big part of it is the joy of photography, the Leicas with their (comparatively) glacial new model roll outs get you off the merrygoround of 18 month upgrade cycles, for those of us shooting with the M, it's a camera fundamentally unchanged in usage since Adam was ankle high to a triceretops, can we get the shots like the greats? LOL fk no, but we at least have the tool and the incentive to try

back to the photos and most Ms have a sensor that's a bit different to the usual (bar the M11 range with a sony), kodak for the M8 and 9, AMS for the M10 range, this gives it the potential to look different (different, not better or worse... in fact compare any two things that do the same job with similar specs for long enough and it's always win some/lose some for each) so the Leica have something inside that other cameras don't (bespoke sensors)
