Either stick with what you have or source a 1-mkiii btw the prices at h.dew for new ones is just over 1K

To be brutally honest, I’m personally not convinced of the real-world benefits of high res, given the march of raw file enhancement software, eg, DxO’s PureRaw. Not exactly saying it’s a case of Emperors New Clothes, but …

I'm over high res tbh. Had the D850, Z7, A7RIV and tried the hi res mode on the EM5-II and most of the time I've not needed it. If it's there then great, but it's not a feature I'd buy a camera for. YMMV.

I've skimmed and it all looks very promising and as usual, his images are just stunning. I shall look again in more detail when I get my camera.

One thing I noted, is that he uses the lever to control power!!!! It might have been helpful to read that a week ago :LOL:

The other thing I noted is the interesting tape/cover he has on the white bits of his lens. On my white canon lens, I use some cheap camouflage style neck warmers loosely attached with hair elastics which enables access for my hand - one day I may even sew a cover that works for me.

Just tried it. I’ve set C3 to save my Procap settings. Then went to the cog menu. Button Settings. Set the Button function of the top button of the two alongside the lens to recall C3. Actually it toggles it on and off.
 
Gotta love how customisable these Olympus cameras are.
BTW. I’m waiting in for delivery of 40-150 Pro.

As Trevor points out, AFAIK you cannot assign a button 'in isolation' but can create a "Pro Capture" based Custom Set with its 'customised' button.

All the E-M1 series (query on the mk1) had this level of customisation and carried over to the OM-1 :)

.... I have shot in this way successfully many times (E-M1X) and with different sets of settings to each C-mode > Button toggled shortcut. If you revise any of the C-mode settings while shooting, you can Save them via the Menu if you want - Otherwise they will remain as originally set whenever you return.

I haven't set my C-modes on my OM-1 yet.

Btw, whenever you update the Firmware, always Save all your camera customisations/settings in OM Workspace - By default it date titles the folder it creates.

Not a biggie but C1 on dial set for portraits so people face detection on, button 1 on front set for face detecIon on/off and button 2 for birds, trains etc on/off.
While on C1 Can use button 1 to turn eye detection on/off BUT then birds, trains etc comes on without being selected. Can use button 2 to put birds etc off but then face detection comes on.

C2 on dial set for animals. Buttons 1 and 2 work fine and have option of face detection, birds trains etc or neither on.

.... I only know the F/2.8 version but is a cracking lens and even shoots very well with the MC-20. Very versatile.

.... Sounds like you may have inadvertantly created a conflict of settings on the same button, unless I have misunderstood your post. Use a different button, or the default one (depending which body) to separate the other AI Detections which are now directly and easily button+dial changed on the OM-1.
 
You really have to get over this feeling of inadequacy Geoff with your MK III (it's still a great camera) - most people don't' get as good shots as you get despite having the latest and greatest equipment :p:p

Another rapid(?) way accessing preferred parts of the Menu is (in the Mk3, M1X & the OM-1) is to add, as I have done, various 'pages' of the Menu to "My" menu. Obviously not as quick as having something in a Custom Set with a Custom Button but can ease switching changes without menu hunting ;)
