Yes
Just a quick question to see how many of you guys and gals are members of their local club??

Also are they worth it??

Here in guernsey we have 3 and have been looking to join one to see if they will help me along the way with my hobby.
going to attend my first one on thursday evening.

I've been a member of a local club for 2 years and I thoroughly enjoy it. OK, some evenings are not of much interest to me, but on the whole well worth it. At the very least you get to meet other local like-minded people.
Pop along to one of your local clubs and see what it's like. You should get a pretty good idea whether it's your cup of tea or not.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

Thanks guys that the answers i was looking for.

I need to beable to get all the info i have read downonto the camera now as I am struggleing to get it all together so talking to people wil help big style.

Thanks again

Spike

Also, if you go along to one club and dont feel comfortable (percieved level of experience, average age of members, number of members, etc) then do not give up - try a different club.
The first club I went to had a very good reputation and consistantly does well in competitions. But I felt somewhat intimidated by the high standard, not to mention that the average age must have been pushing 80! I so very nearly gave up on cam clubs there and then, but a friend persuaded me to try out another club nearer home, which I did. OK, so the standard / rep is nowhere near that of the first club, but the members are much younger, friendlier and not "stuck up". And my level of experience / standard of work is probably somewhere in the middle or just above.

Good luck - let us know how you get on.

I have been a member of the Aberdeen CC on and off for quite a few years now.
I really enjoy the competition side of things.
I have taken a couple of mates along that are keen on learning but unfortunately we don't have a beginners section and they thought that the club was way too advanced for them so they never went back.

Check out your local Community Centre to see if they run Beginners Digital Photography courses

i am also a memeber and definatley worth it

just borrowed a lens of another member £400 worth for free

i have only been there a few months

I joined a local camera club last year after trying a couple out. I loved it so much that i got myself onto the committee for this season!

My photography has improved no end. I feel like i have been out and shot more since joining and have met some great people along the way.

I go to my local Cheltenham Club and its certainly worth the money.
There are often very interesting photographers which often give you that injection of enthusiasm which I certainly need from time to time especially this time of year.
There are perhaps too many competitions for my liking but you can at least opt out if its not your thing.

Ah your in Topsham then Nice you can pop over to Blowing Marsh Green so easy I have to drive and park up mide you not much to walk after. Do you go down there if so you might like to let me know good times, was there the other day and was dead ...

I'm a member of my local camera club and we have photographers of all experience. Infact the profesionals do 3 workshops a year for the more inexperianced ones. We also go out on trips have speekers come in and have comps beween ourselfs
