Photography Gloves - Recommendations Please

Hi all,

Being a bit 'nesh' and feeling cold this time of year, I'm looking for a pair of photography gloves.

Hoping to head out more into the wilderness in the winter and improve my bird photography!

Any recommendations, much appreciated.

If you cheque the threads there are alot of posts on the subject. For me Aldi fishing gloves cheep and warm.
 
I bought a pair of Lowe Pro gloves with first finger and thumbs on both gloves popping up that then Velcro to the upper part of the finger. I find them excellent but haven't used them in anything like the Artic or Iceland for example. They have little grippy bits on them too which help. I find myself wearing them for non photo reasons so they are quite comfortable.
 
just bought a pair of jack pyke mittens and they have velcro on them to fold the mittens back ,leaving fingerless gloves underneath. Seen them on here a few week's back,search for "gloves" and you will find the link.

Very good and toasty by the way .
 
I have a pair of North Face Windstoppers, For me they fit snuggly and are very warm but without being to bulky, I have noticed they do have different versions so to help you mine have a grippy surface on the index, middle finger and thumb making it easy to use the dials, buttons and shutter.

They seem quite difficult to get hold of now?

I like the idea of mittens but would prefer if the palms had a gripy surface. Mittens can be quite slippy.
 
I use Tog 24 Riga. Grippy, windproof and have conductive patches on thumbs and index fingers so they work with touch screens.
 
I've just got a pair of Deerhunter Chameleon gloves, windproof waterproof and insulated. The finger and thumb folds back for more fiddly work and has a leather palm. Not as dextrous as the windproof fleece ones but a bit warmer. The best point £13 delivered from the evil bay.

With gloves there's always a trade off between feel and warmth. I guess it depends how demanding the environment you go into will be will ultimately influence your decison
 
I never do any photography in severe weather conditions, but for British weather this time of year, I just buy a cheap pair of magic gloves... Not the warmest gloves, but they're cheap and cheerful and allow for good control of camera use :)
 
Sealskinz Ultra Grip Gloves. Might noy be the warmest (but warm enough) but very dextrous so no need to take them off at any point. I found warmer gloves having to take them off all the time you end up with colder hands. Can change lenses, filters with them on,even tie my shoe laces, or use my windows phone.

water resitant to so hands stay dry ;)

I'll say again what I said on the other thread. Extremities sticky gloves. Check out your outdoor clothing shop such as Cotswold Outdoor.
Thin, warm and very grippy

Do you know the exact ones? I've got a pair of extremities power liner X-dry and they're grippy and waterproof etc but too thick for camera control.

They seemed good when I tried them on last week. I'm going for some North Face etip instead though as they just seemed to fit a little better. I'm happy enough to sacrifice a bit of heat in order to retain some dexterity (though these two were pretty similar in terms of thickness).
 
I have a pair of Sealskinz Sporting Gloves with the foldable thumb and forefinger. Not cheap but the website usually has great offers on. Excellent gloves.
 
I bought a pair of "Stealth Gear" photographers gloves three years ago and are still going well, they have small holes in thumb and forefinger so you can push your digits out to operate the camera, without the need to take the gloves off, they are also warm and grippy.
Not cheap but in our hobby we all know you only get what you pay for!!!
