It will stand the same amount of hammering, I’m sure you’re right however, will the electronics still be functioning in 60 years like my M3 is?
But this is a while different can of worms, and one simply cannot make a valid comparison without tempering the lifetime argument with the level of sophistication an functionality of the more modern system. Modern electronics are A) more susceptible to fatigue and damage because of their component size (simply look up damage in semiconductors due to high energy photons, etc), and B) there is simply more to go wrong. Both of these points are distinct from arguments about build quality of either the boards or the components themselves. The M3 electronics are about as basic as it gets, and the components are probably huge by comparison, allowing for much larger solder joints, etc etc etc. Let us not forget also that the F5 (to continue the comparison) is up to 22 years old now, and considering what the F5 can do by comparison, that's pretty good!
