Hi, just got a pm from a girl called "raksha " asking to use my swamp soccer photos in a magazine.

Has anybody else had any pm's from a girl named raksha ?

I'm a grafic designer (Russia, St.-Petesburg), now working in the magazine RIDE . it's about extreme activities and people.
now I do a material about Swamp soccer world cup 2011. Can I use your photoes, from this competition, please? your name will be near your photoes.

sounds a bit funny

Ride is a mountain bike mag or is it bmx in america i cant remember but not sure why some one from a bike mag would want a soccer section for a mag like that

i would report to a moderator and see what they think
 
As suggested, please report the PM so we can take a look. Sounds a bit spammy to me!

Just because she's Russian doesn't automatically mean it's a scam. The mag Tom linked looks authentic, though the links on the site don't work for me.

Why not be nice to her until more is known? :shrug:

I don't think anyone is being NOT nice. Just cautious!
 
If a legit magazine in Russia wanted to use your photos, that's probably exactly the kind of rather nice request you would get. There are loads of mags around called Ride, at least two in the UK and that's not counting any porno.

It will be a small magazine, probably with zero freelance budget hence the offer of a credit.

this magazine is the "start-up project", it's very young (nearly one year). It's a free edition. we do it with my friends and uor work is free too. it's a great problem to find sponsors nowadays.
I hope in future we'll pay fee to our photografers and journalists. but now we can only thank them and be proud of working with such a great talanted people.

I understand that you want some bonus for photoes.
What I can offer to you
You may write a few words about this competition (how it was? was it expressive or not?) and give me your portret photo. something like comment from the eyewitness.
I'll translate your words in russian and put your portret near your photoes from the competition. when the magazine will be published on paper, I'll send it to you by paper mail.
