Yes
I have a few shots of my sisters cat, but unfortunately due to the issue i had with a failing hard drive the only copies i have are those i had already hosted in my gallery, i have no original copies at all.

Now this cat sadly got run over last week and i would like to get a couple of small prints done. The images i have hosted i resized, though i only want some 6x4's, maybe 7x5's at the most so its not really a problem.
However at the same time as resizing, i also reduced the resolution to 72dpi.

I was hoping i might get away with it on these small prints. But i just took a trip down to tesco to use the instant print service, just to get an idea of how they would come out before i got them done properly. And yes, they came out looking like crap.

I'm sure i already know the answer to this, but is there anything i can do to try and improve the prints.
Failing that, would a small canvas be a bit more forgiving? (It would be a selection of three or four 6x4 images on a single canvas.)

Try enabling resampling and resizing them to 1200 pixels by 800 pixels.
Print at 200 ppi and they should come out at 6x4, the quality will depend on your resampling software.
If a commercial printer wants 300ppi you would have to resize to 1800x1200, again the quality will depend on the resampling software.

Cheers. Just done it, popped in to town and got the prints done and frammed already. Don't look too bad at all considering.

Thank you. :)

Sure, this is one of the ones i used.

PLEASE NOTE: All the images below are compressed (the 4000x2666 heavily) to comply to Photobucket's 1mb limitation.
The actual uncompressed ones are a bit better still and I could email one to you if you are happy with the results and would like to print it :)

In my opinion the 4000x2666 one from genuine fractals could print to A4 and maybe even a bit bigger with satisfactory results (from previous experience).
I would not enter it into a competition but for my own use it is more than adequate.
