Printing problems!

Hi,

I have an HP 5650 Deskjet & an Epson SX115 and both appear to have black ink in the carts but they will not print black
I printed out my son's homework last night & it prints all the clipart but no text, I also printed out a letter I had & all it printed was a hypelinked email in blue.

I have changed the USB lead
Downloaded the latest drivers

Anyone got any ideas, it's gotta be something daft (me) probably.

is the printer used regularly? maybe the heads have clogged. try the cleaning routines for the printer.

To check if it's a clogged head you could try changing the text in the letter to red and see if it prints this. You may also want to try changing the Black cart. I've had instances where the cart is empty but for some reason the printer utility reports it's still got ink in it.

It is strange that both printers have the same problem.


You could also try printing a simple text file using Notepad, as this is a fairly simple text programme and will use the default drivers

Well, I'll be damned!!!

Both black carts replaced & both working fine

Epson was showing 1/3 full & HP feels almost the same weight as the replacement :shrug:
