And I still HATE unnecessarily secretive people - I've come across this attitude for donkey's years (and not just in photography) and it always gets me riled

I run Newbie nights (for free) locally, and I try to pass on pretty much everything anyone needs to know, knowing they will still not capture or process their images the same as me

And I have met up with and give advice to young people in Eastbourne about photography. I.E. Alep P who is new to this site- his sister messaged me on facebook if I would have him come and shoot with me over the summer before collee, approx 6 weeks and I said yes I would love to and I have made him and his sister very happy. What you say holds no weight, just because I dont want to give peoplemy presets.

Luke I dont know what has been said regarding you and your processing, but I do know that this thread isnt actually aimed at you.

The female photographer who came to judge at our camera club last night, is one for saying we can ask her anything, then yet doesnt tell us any information from how she captured the image nor to how she processed it.

She is quite annoying with it. And I know for certain that this thread is aimed about people like her.

I dont know why you will have taken this personally, but I know, not you in my experience, but there has been other people who do not tell people how they've processed/shot etc an image.

And beofre I go to bed your secret was busines related, we dont live anywhere near each other and I give people business advice all the time.

I agree with you Dave, Although I'm not refering to the same person as you.

Luke - I know you've openly shared your technique, or at least enough for me to go and try a similar thing.

It's quite interesting that on the glamour forum Jason Cole openly tells us how he achieves his shots, with great lighting and diffuser, and people still say it's PP.

there also seem to be a great number of photographers that post pictures, just so others can pat them on the back, but never reply to comments. Especially if a comment is what processing have you done. Even if the reply was 'a few actions some curve adjustments and colour correction filter', we get nothing. I know a few members that don't post on threads by these people. Perhaps they are scared. I do know one photographer that opens says he wont give away his tricks for PP, but he doesn't post on here, and I can't blame him.

It is my opinion that those that don't share techniques, or even point us in the right direction, are people that just want patting on the back and being told 'great shot all the time.'

My little rant over. and I'm not naming names either, but it's not Luke and not dellipher.
 
So shall we all stop ranting and return to friday night chill zone then? Oh and fellas, do me a favour, you can actually ignore each other if you want to. You have BOTH been helpful on the forums, so it seems a bit pointless to continue any kind of debate [here or in any other thread] that puts neither of you in a good light.
 
I could let you all in on the secret of controlling the anger that secretive people generate.

But, Naah!! I'll keep it to mi' sen.

Best post all night. I 100% agree, thats the gyst of it, I give pointers, its not rocket science and everyone seems to be cool with that and also without mentioning names there are ALOT of peple who share image and give nothing. I do genuinly feel angry that I have been singled out and especially that he didnt share his secret and done this but im not creating a thread about it.

Ok thats the last I promise. If anyone wants to dig deep search through my old threads or just ask people who I have replied to through PM.

Off to bed, I dont want to be grumpy for the bride and groom tomorrow.

Sorry, but I am NOT just ranting at a certain individual on TP, though I have admitted he sparked an old and annoying issue of mine, my problem is with anyone who sucks in advice or (as Nat says) 'pats on the back' and yet refuses to do the same for any others

That said there are of course plenty of business sensitive reasons for not doing so, one of which I have presently and which forms an idea for future expansion, hence I'm keeping it close to my chest

But when, especially at the club, we have guest speakers we PAY to come to talk to us who then say they won't share any PP, locations info etc. it annoys the Hell out of me

From comments in his thread it's obvious some others feel the same and they are not directing that at any specific TP member either

For the vast majority of photographers it's a hobby and one where we all love to learn & share, being secretive I find annoying & unnecessary especially as many can easily dissect an image's processing and tell others anyway

Perhaps I just shouldn't let it wind me up so much :shrug:

Did she definately take and process the photos? If she won't explain, maybe she can't. cos she didn't do it...........

I have no doubts that she did indeed take them - but I see where you're coming from

The processing in question then was her wonderful Infra Red 'look' (I say look as it was a normal DSLR not an altered one, or film)

One of the funniest, who's secret we eventually 'outed', was some great wildlife shots of birds that are really quite rare in the UK & hard to get close to, so their capture was all the more impressive for that

Turned out he'd been abroad where these (rare to the UK) birdies are as common and as close as a typical garden Sparrow/Robin/Blackbird :lol: And being big he'd shot them with that wildlife photographers favourite... a 50mm lens :D

Oh - and he was feeding them at the time too
