Yes
I've just noticed that the RCC now have a shop in Liverpool, anyone been yey?

Yep. I went along to the opening night. Lovely shop with a good location right in the city centre just off Dale Street. Chris who used to work at Manchester is the manager. It's only two streets away from my work office too which could be dangerous in the future. Ha.

Blimey they have an Ilford 35mm camera for £12 grand!

:runaway: Always gunna be skint alert:runaway:

:LOL::LOL:

If I wasn't trying to sell stuff instead of buy, you might be right. Ha. I am having such a hard time at the moment elaborating between selling most things except one body or buying new gear to get into advertising my services again. That's for another thread though.....or not. :)

I went in a few weeks ago when I was in town with the kids. It’s much smaller than the Manchester store but has parking outside (meter) and is easy to get to as it’s 2 minutes from the exit of the Mersey Tunnel in Hatton Gardens.

While I was there, Chloe (my daughter) was pointing out a few wooden folding cameras on the shelf and said they looked like my Chroma’s. The guy there then asked if I was the Chroma guy, so the kids think I’m a celebrity now [emoji23] He also asked if I wanted to sell some cameras through their store, which was awesome, so I’ll be going back over once I can build some stock.

Let me know your address and I’ll get it in the post, along with your pen drive which I forgot I still had!

Yes that's the one …..Pretty cool innit?

For goodness sake, i don't want 'em back ( I was pulling your leg! ) Tbh I don't even recall the pen drive.
What would I do with a lomo camera?...….I'm going larger and even larger format not miniscule lol

It could maybe go on a "world tour" at some point I guess, like the travelling zoom......assuming of course that it's owner ( Chloe) would like to see it do that;)

Appologies Andy, @Andysnap , as usual I've diverted a thread.....:sorry:

I figured you didn’t really want the lomo back, but the pendrive should head back your way [emoji23]

Well don't go in on a Monday, as the shop doesn't open. What sort of a business is that? I'm glad I was going into town anyway and the logos in the window all look impressive.

Their website does mention that they sell film, I wonder what their prices will be. I hope their attitude to customers is better than another business specialising in old cameras which is just the other side of the Main Bridewell (now a hotel would you believe|?)

Whilst in town I managed to test out a Canon command back 90 for a T90 which works perfectly and is about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike. I think it's time for an ebay listing.

Even horses have to stop for a rest every now and then. ;) Thanks for the heads-up on that though.

That's the difference between a big chain store/supermarket and an independent/sole trader. Paying for staff cover to take a break yourself can be a strain, so closing on a day with the least customer footfall to give your staff and yourself the required day off is often the only financially viable solution if you're working one or both days at the weekend. If you check the opening times of other specialist independents, such as West Yorkshire Cameras, then you'll probably find they're similar.

Wonder if it is worth taking the Fuji X10 in, for them to have a look at. I suppose I could always ask, next time I am passing. Although I reckon the repair cost, will be more than the value of a working X10.

I am sure there was a Camera shop at the bottom of Dale street, possibly the 70s.

from a post on there FB when I asked if open on a Sunday
John, it is my choice to open neither shop on Sundays. I'm sorry if that is inconvenient for you.
L'pool is open 5 days a week at present, Tues-Sat, 9.30-5pm.

24/7 & 7 day Opening/ shopping may be convenient for some but much less so for those who have to work the unsociable days/ nights / hours.
People want everything available all the time until they have to man the the very same services that they demand to be available because it interferes with their social life / family time!

Not everyone is the same. I used to volunteer for bank holiday work when it was going because I much preferred time off when the shops were open. I have a friend who liked nights when he was on the railways because he thought the work was more interesting. All the emergency services must be staffed 24/7 - I'm sure that those who dislike weekend opening would be unhappy if they rang 999 on a Sunday to be told that ambulances and paramedics only respond Monday to Friday between 9 am 5pm...

A bit harsh! The emergency services have a lot more staff to choose from than a small 'bricks & mortar' shop & the taxpayer foots the bill.

12 hours shifts and Zero hour contracts, amongst many other working conditions are, going by your comments, the best thing since sliced bread!

As for Bank holidays, at one time they were offered to employees at double time and a day off in lieu, perhaps this will have been an incentive for you to offer to work them!…
That rarely exists now ….Every day is considered the same….. Quite sad really.

Anyway to get back on topic, the fact that the The Real Camera Company has branched out further has to be a good sign for both them as a business and for us as togs even if we do have to plan our visiting times to ensure that their doors are open!

I only asked if they were open on Sunday as that was my last rest day for the next 10 days I've already plan my next rest days around the shop open days, I posted the reply so everyone could see the open hours

I respect your view but many people have quite a different view as shown by the way our society is developing.

Yes, and from what I can see of that development, it appears that everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die!

For many, many years the John Lewis store in Cambridge didn’t open on Mondays so that all staff got a two day break. Hardly a small retailer!

I’m old enough to remember when they relaxed the laws on Sunday trading and all the big employers trotted out the same lines.

“No staff will be forced to work on a Sunday and those that do will be paid extra”

I wonder how many places adhere to that now.

I'm old enough to remember when they didn't allow Sunday trading and you had a boring day every week. :naughty:

Where I lived, the paper shop was open 'till lunchtime!

TBH I really miss the quietness of an old fashioned Sunday, I hate that it's become just another day, I appreciate that people need to shop but people also need time to spend with their families, I accept the change but I don't think it's for the better.

:bat:

Exactly what ^^ HE SAID^^

Well the first paragraph anyway! :runaway::LOL:

As someone who has worked awkward shifts in the past, Sunday is just another day if you've been been "on" the last six days and pubs not shutting till 1am is great if you don't finish until 10pm.

We've had Sunday opening for longer than I can remember but I still hate finding myself in large parts of England on a Sunday afternoon....

I work shifts too and most weekends at the moment but I'd still happily see most shops shut on a Sunday or if they must be open then the staff should be given a choice and properly compensated for working antisocial hours.
It's still very unusual for shops to be open on a Sunday in Germany and to a lesser degree France and the country doesn't thrash and wail because it can't buy a telly on a sunday. People only have so much money to spend and the drive towards 24 hour 7 days a week opening does no one any good.

Must just be what you are used to.

Like I said Sunday has been a pretty normal day in Scotland (at least the heathen lowlands) for as long as I can remember and society hasn't collapsed into a commercial orgy, well no more than the rest of the UK.

Maybe you don't see it as a 'commercial orgy' because you have nothing to compare it too.
