One that is dedicated to go with your camera whichever make that might be

On your web site you say you offer photography services for weddings, christenings, model portfolios etc.

And you're posting here asking what is a good flash gun

I've recently got into Weddings.

I use a Rollei, but would like others Recommendations

Why not just lock this now and save time and agro?

it's a slow day at work so I might subscribe to the thread! :gag:

so you have a Fuji camera, are you looking for an external flashgun that is compatible? if so I think your options will be limited.
what are you expecting from the flash?
just a simple manual flash or perhaps something with ETTL etc?
the danger is what voltages the flashgun kicks out and what might damage your camerae.

a lot of wedding photographers bounce their flashguns from a catch-light card or whatever you might call it and so might not need ETTL and auto metering.
Do you do weddings with this equipment? shoot indoors? etc? your user profile information is a little confusing for an amateur like myself.
so far, do you do weddings with the on-board flash??

I do Indoor and Outdoor Shoots.

I use an External Flash.

The on board flash works well but I only really use the External Flash.

Maybe the Flash Gun is the Best for my camera as it doesn't let me down.

I've Been asked to do a couple of Weddings. I've done Engagement photographs.

Just

Just learning more about Weddings.

I may not need to use a Flash Gun if the available light is good.

Pardon. I'm not a Troll.

I'm asking for Recommendations. So that makes me a Troll.

Get your facts right. I ain't a troll at all.

I am a True Person who is learning different Photography.

Anything wrong with that?

I'm learning, just like you ultimately are too

My Mind truly doesn't understand a person who says I am a Troll. I'm learning New things.

Obviously your the Troll mate.

Don't pretend

giving you the benefit of the doubt, then I would look to get on a wedding photography course as it's a very very very demanding gig as far as I can see.

I wrote loads here but deleted it.
good luck

We are all learning you are right, but when you are in the very early stages of that task it isn't the time to put yourself forward as a professional photographer who will to take on the most important day of someones life. The images on your web site are certainly not up to the standard required (yet). Maybe in time you will be a wonderful photographer who will make his fortune and all in life will be great but not until you've had a lot more training/experience. Sorry if this sounds harsh but it's true and needs to be said. There will be plenty of people on here who have lots of experience and will advise you but that won't happen while your claiming to be something your not.

If you want to be a wedding phoptographer (and it seems the whoile world does at the moment) heres a simple ten step plan

1) Buy a DSLR
2) Learn to use it
3) Buy some more kit (ie lenses flash guns etc)
4) learn to use that
5) Buy even more kit (including a second DSLR body)
6) Find some second shooting or assisting opportuinities to learn how to shoot weddings
7) if you still want to be a wedding photographer do a business of weddings cours like that offered by DG photo training (others are available)
8) Get some insurance, Do some wedings for free until you've got a decent portfolio
9) Put together a website and business packages
10) et voila your a wedding tog - now all you need is some clients

Simple ? - in essence yes, but the hard bit is putting in the time to develop the skills and experience necessary, and like all good ten step plans you won't get anywhere if you try to jump from step one (or before it in your case) to step 10

But dont expect anyone to take you seriously if you claim to be a wedding photographer using a fuji S9500 and a non dedicated flash , who has to ask advice in talk basics.

I've only recently Advertised as Wedding Photographer.

I don't claim to be the Best ever.

I am always learning new things and increasingly building my knowledge.

I don't really care what others have to say about my pictures.

Photography is individual to each person. What one photographer sees and does is not necessarily what another photographer sees and does.

I will keep learning and learning.

I'm a formula one driver. I've ever driven a formula one car, but I own a road car, so how hard can it be?

Get the point? You can't advertise as a wedding photographer when you have absolutely no clue about it, or the gear to do it.

I'm sorry but you are nowhere near ready to advertise as a wedding photographer - with luck you'll relaise that before you wind up featuring in a daily mail article

I don't really care what others have to say about my pictures.

The latter kind of precludes the former - you can't build your knowledge until you are ready to accept honest critique

Photography is individual to each person. What one photographer sees and does is not necessarily what another photographer sees and does.

Thats true artistically , but in terms of technical merit - well exposed and in focus are pretty much black and white - you either are or you're not.

And what matters with weddings is what the clients see - asnd if what they see is burnt out whites etc, what you'll be seeing next is a solicitors letter (and that assumes you can get any clients without a wedding portfolio)

Perhaps I should stick to Wildlife, business and family portrait photographs.

Instead of jumping into Weddings.

I'll learn more about wildlife, parties etc. gaining more experience within those and forgetting Weddings altogether

Strictly speaking you should probably give up any thought of any kind of proffesional work until you have mastered the basics

Why do/did you want to shoot weddings? Was it purely a money thing?
I've been shooting for 10 years plus and have absolutely no inclination to shoot weddings as I know how demanding it is.

That's a much better plan, nothing wrong with aspiring to being a wedding photographer (although I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole) but there's a bit of a way to go yet.
With wild life it doesn't matter if you blow the whites etc while your learning as the only one looking is you or people giving helpful critique.

This is very god advice, I do not know of any dedicated flash guns for your camera. I would also add that it really isn't suitable for wedding photography, it is no more than a compact camera. If you are serious about weddings do it the proper way and get the right equipment, training and experience. I have shot a couple of weddings and even my first one, which was for my best man and a freebie as they couldn't afford one, I went out and brought a second body and more memory cards and batteries.

I just thought with Wedding Photography, I'd meet new people and gain more Contacts.

I enjoy Photography and it's something that puts a Smile on my face.

This is begining to sound very familiar.
We had another poster not long ago who didn't care about what others thought of his/her images then got very uptight when they were critisised.
If you do not care what others think, you will not last long as a wedding photographer, that is ALL about what others think!
I agree with the troll theory.
