From a few days ago....trying out my flash rig 'in the field', just to add a touch of fill.

First, the Red Admiral:
(Vanessa atalanta)

Small Tortoiseshell:
(Aglais urticae)

And a Roesel's Bush Cricket (I think)....not the best quality or background (heavy crop), but it's not easy finding these little critters:
(Metrioptera roeselii)

Thanks for looking folks!:)

Very nice Gareth (y)

Seems like you have hit the sweet spot for the lighting, looks good to me and some good focus there as well.
Those Red Admiral`s are really stunning when seen on a photo, the colours just shine thru.

Great shots

Thank you @derbydude for taking the time to look and for the positive comment!

Many thanks too Graham! I really appreciate the encouraging comments!
I think I'm dialling in the lighting slowly, but getting out and about is easier said than done!

Those Red Admirals are indeed stunning....and really fast to react!
I sneaked up on this one while he/she was relaxed, with his/her wings not showing those red bits, and as soon as I fired the shutter they popped up....it out-reacted my 7Dmk2 @ 1/320th of a second!!
I didn't even know they did that....I guess it's a kind of warning.
They are fascinating!
