Yes
I just paid £16.79 for a SanDisk 4GB Extreme III Compact Flash Card does anyone here have one? are they ok? Did I get a good deal?
Pete

Yep, they are excellent and that is a good price! Does it include P&P?

I wouldn't have anything else and the price is excellent. What you do have to be very very careful of is fakes. They are so good it would be hard to tell the difference at just looking at them, so I would always suggest buying from a genuine dealer.

I bought one of these babies in April for £19.99 delivered, cheapest I've seen at the moment is £17.99 delivered - so you have done well (y)

Where did you get it?

Goto PC World and use their ruddy price match if your looking to buy these cards cheaper.Post 6 here http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?p=887720#post887720

Whoooooah!!

Wanna bet PC World has a rush on tomorrow - bet that sales team is engaged all morning! This is just in time for a wedding this weekend AND my battery pack just arrived this morning too ...:woot:

.......and it's the '4gb 30mb/s/200x with pouch and recovery disk'
Your next one will be cheaper now;)

Well you live and learn...I bet some people still go in pc world or jessops and actually pay 50 quid for one though...now that would be annoying:crying:

Unfortunately you can only order 1 per phone call but no such restriction in-store, unless you reserve and collect then its 3 per r & c number.

To r&c do I mention the price match when in store or do I need to call before visiting store?

An Asian couple did after I'd advised them to use the price match, go figure. Then again they may have thought I'd been let out for the day.:D
If your thinking of buying from any on-line store on the PCW list then check if PCW sell it. Your money is better off in your pocket rather than theirs.

play.com, £17.99, delivered, wont bother with the 15 mile round trip to exeter and the hour or so it will take to get in and out,my time is worth slightly more than £3.60 an hour+ the fuel etc, etc, you can get a bit obsessive about price , dont you think

They've been as low at £14.99, about £17 seems the usual.

On line you can reserve and collect 3 max at any one time.
Goto PCW's web site and put items in basket to either check stock or r & c pay at store, they will hold for 24hrs if they have any.
However their stock system is a bit flakey in that it may show stock at 'your store' but none on shelves.

Phone order max 1 item per phone call on 0844 5610000( check saynoto0870 for geo no.). remind them Play's price includes delivery so you don't pay PCW delivery either.
Check that the 'play card is from play and not play trade

Or simply goto store and raid the shelves.
Do Not Ring store as they may remove them from shelves

Think that covers it, Russ.

Absolutely, but for the less well informed, those passing PCW or comtemplating ordering from play, 7day or Amazon then why not, the £3 pounds can soon add up if buying several cards.

I think that it's great for your help - but is it not just easier to pay an extra quid or so and order it from Play? Saves petrol, an arguement with a spotty oik and a shed load of time?

Cheers for that Russ - I'll place an r&c tonight to collect tomorrow. That'll mean that taking the savings into account I am actually proving there is such a thing as a free lunch :rules:

You don't even have to leave the house to get the saving ;)

Thanks TF. If you are going to the store check at the r & c collection point first and then the shelves as they should have 'pulled' them for you, also walk around as they may have more than 1 point of sale for them.
However don't be upset if there are none in-store as their stock system is not 100%

Russ.

Got my two cards from mymemory today (ordered tuesday night) very happy with the service and price, these cards did come with recovery discs and pouch ...they were sent in seperate envelopes which seems a bit of a waste of money but I guess it keeps the posties in business so that can't be bad.

It's so you don't fall foul of the Vat threshold.

Could you expand a little bit on the 'Vat threshold' please?

Jamie

ps my order is also coming from MyMemory in two packets?
J

IIRC under £18 value per item/package form Jersey no vat to pay, if they put them all in together value over £18 then someone (you) is liable to pay vat man.

i just recieved mine from play.com

17.99 delivered. nice presentation too, comes with a little fabric zipped case to hold 2 cards :)

I think you'll find that all the newer model sandisk cards now come with pouch, software and card reader with sd cards, this may be their attempt to counter the counter fitters(fakers). There have been a few grumblers that the hard case is no longer included.

I think PC World may have caught on, I've just checked on my local area and 3 stores are out of stock. Either that or everyone has grabbed them already :(

I don't think they're that clever, it depends which part of the country you look. London plenty, Wales none. You can still order over the phone though.;)

Just ordered mine from PC World - £14.29 delivered :)

I tried this in Cambridge, they had the older 20meg ones, so I decided against, but they were up for the price match.
