I once purchased one of the kits on a whim in a charity shop for £1.50. When I got home it turned out the box was empty!I picked up one of those DIY TLR kits from Waterstones recently.

Some kind charity shop worker saved you hours of frustration and days of disappointment there...I once purchased one of the kits on a whim in a charity shop for £1.50. When I got home it turned out the box was empty!
I picked up one of those DIY TLR kits from Waterstones recently. Three odd hours to build it, and I'd heard some horror stories about it, but set out with a heart full of hope and a thermos full of coffee...

Well... it looks nice on a rustic looking book case I suppose
Thanks. Yep, composition can be hit or miss with the old folders. I have to confess that I cheated with my favourite No.2 Autographic and attached one of the those cheap tele-wide brightline finders. It's not perfect, but it's a heck of a lot easier than the tiny prism finder.Nice. And welcome. I have a folding Voigtlander Bessa but composition is such a pain!

I normally use my old folders on a tripod and use a smartphone with a viewfinder app to estimate the composition. Obviously, I'm not photographing moving things.Thanks.
