Nice shots, how did you do the filament shot?

Set up filament in a dark room against black back drop.camera set on manual iso 100, 1/500, f5.6, high speed continuous shooting. Hit the shutter release and the power to the filament.

Thanks for looking!

Health & Safety would have a fit, if you tried that at work !

Worth it though, #3 is a corker !

All good, but 3 is a corker.

How did you power the filament at the same time as firing the shutter? 1/500 is pretty fast :)

Easy! Set camera to high speed continuous shooting (for the 50D 6.3fps), camera remote in one hand, power switch for filament in the other. Let rip with the shutter a fraction before powering up the filament. You end up with about a 10 shot sequence, the middle of the sequence holds the goodies:thumbs:

No' 3  :notworthy:

I did a bulb breaking shot ( avatar, larger shot in my gallery ) but it kept blowing the fuse so my question is, does the filament shot blow a fuse every time ? i.e do i need a bucket full of fuses because i think i might give this a try. Cheers.

Very nice, I tried this today.
I didn't realise the filament would only burn for a split second, I thought i'd at least have time to get quite a few shots off. Needless to say, my attempt didn't turn out very well :p.

Thanks Wigster:thumbs:
That's where the supermarket's value range come in - 20 bulbs for £3. I cleared the shelf last time

Really liking the filament shot - It looks fantastic. Nice to know how it's done to

A bit late but thanks Sarah:thumbs: Corbystock - never blown a fuse doing these:eek:

Edit: Just realised that these were my first images on TP:thumbs:

Very nice! esp the bulb shot  Been meaning to try this myself for ages :)

Shot #3 is brilliant.

I found with smoke shots that if you layer and mirror them you can get some great effects.
