Hi spammers,

You keep posting here and trying to get our members to buy this and buy that, but all you are doing as adding another email address to the never ending list of [spam] reports.

we dont need:
Mobile phones
Porn
Viagra or other generic stiffypills
dating
hooky software.

Do us all a favour and give it up, the thread wont be here long enough for more than 1 person to read, so your just wasting your time and mine, and the time of the rest of the team here.

Damn, I missed all the fun.

Speak for yourself matty, I could do with a new mobile...and if I'm being honest...some viagra aswell. (Shove it in me eyes...makes me look 'ard)
 
got to be careful with them pills, if you dont swallow then properly you can get a stiff neck...
 
Tons of it around at the moment, we've banned a long list of email addys frequently used by them... notably some .ru and .de ones. .by seems the latest.
 
Does Viagra stop you from get hooky porn on floppies ?

I got one of those dodgy emails once. "Click here to make your penis touch the floor" it proudly announced. Clicked on it and my legs fell off. :thinking:

Not sure what thats all about. :shrug:

its down to search engines i think, we are coming up on page 1 for all except google, which we are now on page 2 for, so moving up there too. Being popular has its draw-backs, we need a new server and the spam increases, lol

if the spam gets really bad we will stop auto accepting registrations and moderate them, that way we dont let any of the trash in at all, but its slower for normal people who want to join up.

i didnt mean matty spam, i meant stoopid ass porn-peddlars and the like..

Yeah Ive noticed a slight increase of spam to my personal mail too lately. Not problematic, just a slight increase.

Site mail seems to be quite good if I'm honest.
Site spam, yeah a slight increase, and Pink Fairy, yup. They seem to be the most common ones.
You can increase how strict the "Captcha" settings are in vBulletin to put them off I believe (so the auto registrations dont work), but it requires certain server specs and certainly more processing power.
At the moment, it isn't bad enough on here to warrant banning the email domains (yet), besides if we did, we'd probably ban half of russia and germany....lol
 
the level of spam mail has become stupid at the moment. I help manage a few web/mail servers at work and have spent the past 2 days just clearing junkmail from them :( normally its not to bad but at the moment the servers are averaging 100,000 spam emails at a time on them.

Unfortunately this message won't make any difference. Its just random computers all over the world running scripts attacking peoples sites. There's no one guy accessing TP and posting individual messages. Its just scripts. The best thing you can do is to block it and move on. I get a fair bit of comment spam on my blog but thankfully I have a decent script to protect me using Askimet that catches everything for the time being. Really takes the edge off it all. But basically you can't say anything, you just have to protect the site from it as best you can and hope it works.
 
Yup, you're right pete. It's evidently scripts, the best thing we can do is what we're doing now, keeping an eye on it, and removing it when it makes it onto the forums.

I must say that in every single instance of spam, you guys have been on the RTM's within seconds! So thankyou :clap: to all that report the spam to us :)
(I suppose it's quite a rare thing having to use the RTM button on here :D)
 
I got this email message for liquid Viagra so bought some. You just put it your coffee. Does nothing for the sex life but at least my biscuit stays hard!
