Sparrowhawk in the back garden

I was on the telephone yesterday when this lady (I'm told it's a female) swooped in for breakfast. G9 with the 100-300mm.

It was a sparrow, actually. Although I'm told elsewhere they prefer wood pigeons - and we have loads of those.

Nice to have in the garden

They'll take a woodie, but I think the smaller birds are main diet.

Cool, love Sparrowhawks. We often get them here.

We have tons of feral pigeons, they are a menace. Our Sparrowhawks occasionally take one, I often see a clump of feathers in the street or on lawns nearby.

A fine looking Hawk...used to have male and female visiting the garden before I took down all the feeders.
