Some people find it strange, but I'm part of a group on call 24/7 to local maternity units, to take photographs, when requested, of infants who have been either stillborn, or died shortly after birth.

It's something I've done since a couple of years after my own son died very shortly after he was born.

I don't think photos here would be appropriate.

IMO neither strange or funny. There are AFAIK a few togs here at TP that do that and my brother is registered with such a charity (are there many or is it just the single UK organisation?).

I do it through the Remember my Baby charity.
It is nationwide, but I'm sure there's others.

I had to look to check and yes it is RMB that my brother is registered with to provide photography service.

Myself in a suspenders panties and a bra. In the name of good taste, I shall not post the results here again but I'm sure a forum search will satisfy anyone foolish (or perverse!) enough's curiosity!

One of a few funny ones was a stand of conifers. Bear on one side. In full foliage on the other. For a law suite. The person on the bear side did all he could to stop me getting the shots. As this was 30+ years ago I have no copies so show.

Perhaps my strangest was a squished person, sadly he'd gone under a tipper truck wheels, I had to photograph it for the police. Not a pretty sight.

The strangest was a wake, I hadn't actually been told before hand that was what the event was.

Funniest, probably the time I I did some work for a really, REALLY low rate strip club. Funny looking back, but very cringe worthy at the time.

Probably a 3D printed model of the male member intended for demonstrating the correct application of condoms, which was produced as a promotional item for a treatment for erectile dysfunction.

I won’t post pics.

From my student days doing zoology (Mid 1970s) Peanuts with two sorts of plastic offcuts and a week later badger poop. That's how you find out which badger sett uses which latrine.

Edit - Even back in the 70s we had to have a license to do this sort of work with badgers. These days things are even more strict.

Weren't you afraid of the bear? ;)

Thank you both so much for not posting :D but Nod, you've highlighted the dangers of the search function there.

Always glad to offer helpful advice and I DID WARN YOU!!! :p

When I was a Scientific Photographer at University College London for 8 years I had to photograph a slide with some of the first sample of Moon Dust that Neil Armstrong put into his pocket. I used a 'Vickers Armstrong Projection Microscope' and a glass plate. all the Professors came into my Studio to look and said that it was 'a Glass Bead' and the Sunday Times used it half page -- BUT I wondered if it was 'Glass' why did it flatten against the cover glass when I pressed it ? ----- I was right !! It was a small piece of plastic from the sieves that NASA used to sieve off all the 'Best Bits' to send us poor Brits the remainder !

I was passing on a boat in Venice and saw these three chaps. A tripod, on a boat! :thinking: Go back a couple of feet, or even just sit on the wall and it would be a lot steadier.

Not something I shot, as I was out on another Job, But my wife was called out by the police to shoot someone stuck up a power transformer pole.
When she got there that was exactly the situation. He was literally fried in place. They wanted shots before they tried to pry him loose.
They took the film from her for processing them selves. They paid a full day rate for 20 minutes work. ( I suspect they had no photographers immediately available)

All in a days work.

I had to photograph the body of a man who had fallen off the cliffs onto the rocks below at Gower.
We sadly comforted him as he died and the coastguard who turned up not long after said he had to be moved as the tide was coming in fast. I was the only one with a camera as this was before camera phones where a thing and the police were still a good half hour away.

Wasn’t pretty as he’d some pretty horrific wounds which they needed documented to show the police.
Certainly wouldn’t fancy a job as a police scene of crime photographer dealing with that all day.

Dungeness. Just the weirdest place you will ever visit. Sound mirrors, rubber coated houses, junk everywhere and a nuclear power station.

Not exactly something that I have photographed, but when I worked as a sales rep for an Audiovisual company selling all sorts of visual aids, overhead projectors, TV’s etc, I had an enquiry for the purchase of a large quantity of top spec JVC S-VHS cameras and other things - proper broadcast stuff that the news stringers used for a while. I duly got the car full of equipment together and set off for an industrial estate in deepest Hertfordshire. Turns out the company (that was fully legit, VAT registered etc) produced adult porn (this was long before the internet) and had 4 sets in this industrial unit plus an edit suite, make up areas etc. They bought 2 cameras in studio config along with a 3 machine edit suite. Very big money deal which they paid cash with order from memory. Have to say, it was a very interesting demonstration of the cameras......

The strangest or weirdest thing that I have photographed is myself. I have been doing photography as a hobby for like 8 years and have had no problems being behind the camera, but being in front of it doing my own portrait was one of the strangest and weirdest things I have done. I just felt really really strange being in front of the camrea. How about you lot? How do you feel about being in front of the camera rather than behind?

Did not know this was available, we were so thankful for the photos we got which were taken by a nurse at the time. Not strange at all if you have been through the experience of such a loss and understand the importance of how cherished these pictures are.

Thank you.
Yes I've been through it too.

Last resting place of the last dragon. About 3 miles from my house as it happens lol.

Look like something else from a distance

Doesn't look like it bell ends in with the background exactly!

Fancy dress bobsled in bathtub racing...with jumps...strange and funny

The story is that this was invented by a farmer who was feeding his cows out of a bath tub and noticed how will it slid down the snow when knocked accidentally.

I was asked to take headshots for an aspiring adult model. I declined, so nothing to show. Not that I could here anyway

I know someone whose main work is creating publicity shots for prostitutes' cards.

I've worked with a contortionist / fakir / swordswallower a few times. This is a picture of his friend sticking skewers through his face.. https://flic.kr/p/Jbptwr
