I see far more written about them, there just doesn't seem to be the same buzz around the A1, I think the price has excluded a lot of people.

Just a simple landscape style Snapograph taken at Dungeness Romney Marsh Kent UK of part of the desolate landscape and some of the things scattered about the beach that have just been left behind. I've deliberately gone for a higher contrast gritty type presentation for this snap to bring out some of the textures.
I'm also working on a personal project called Things Left Behind and this will be one of the shots included.

I think it's because no one had it long enough to give a proper review and try some settings , I've seen quite a few tests and the bird eye af does look almost as good as the r5/r6 and for quick tests i feel it will be at least match it
I don't why Sony did not put more out there on this unless there still tweaking it with a firmware update time will tell .

My card arrived and it was a doddle to setup video to the UHS-I and RAW to UHS-II, when there's a guide of course! lol

I'm still amazed by the af of this A9, which is staggeringly good. The family were out in the garden jumping around, snow balls flying etc and I was rattling off 20 fps. Went to edit this evening and it was a 100% hit rate. That's crazy. The D750 would have been decent but nothing like this.

APO is short for Apochromatic. A lens with an Apochromatic design has better correction of chromatic and spherical aberration than the much more common achromat lenses.

Yup. That 50mm f2 IMO really has to be used to be appreciated. It's the best lens I've ever used :D I'll could be tempted by a 35mm f2 apo but I don't know if I'll buy one as I have way too many lenses and no time to use them. Equally tempting are the 35, 40 and 50mm f1.2's. I've read that the 50mm f1.2 has the best rendering of the f1.2's, I have the 40mm f1.2 but hardly use it.

The 35mm f1.4 remains one of my favourite lenses despite it's wild bokeh with some scenes.

Still waiting for mine.

We might be able to go for a walk this afternoon but my betting is that the snow will be going and the walkways will be a muddy mess.
 
We never got to go for a walk so all I managed was a picture taken out the back door. Crop from a picture taken with my A7 and Voigtlander 35mm f1.4 at f2.8.

I was thinking you clearly don't need an A9 II if that's what the A7R IV can do focus wise :D

My dog was in a really energetic mood with the snow and was giving a lot of good chances to get shots running at the camera, given he's dark against the white background I was surprised at the number of missed shots although to be fair at 20fps it did crank out plenty in focus as well.

That's probably very tricky for a camera isn't it, low contrast subject against a bright background?

I didn't nail 100% of shots today but certainly got far more keepers, I didn't think it was too bad considering a small low contrast face against bright background shooting at f1.4. I'd expect the 100-400mm and/or a 70-200mm f2.8 to be even better (y)
 
Has anyone tried Topaz Gigapixel? I've just tried it and my god is it slow, takes about 3-5mins to process an image and send back to LR :eek: Glad I tried the free trial first.

Yes I own it and doesn't take that long for me though I guess it depends on your resolution and scaling factor.

I've just tried "upscaling" via exporting from LR with a larger file size/resolution (matching that from Gigapixel) and it looks the same to me, I deffo won't be buying Gigapixel.

He's a blue roan cocker spaniel so he has plenty of contrast on him and there wasn't really any detail in the snow yet on a few occasions it drifted over to the ground, tried to lock on then worked its way back to the dog. On another shot it got confused between the dog and the person who released him despite the large distance between them. On the other hand in defence of the camera he was absolutely caning it and there's a lot of movement around him as his hair and ears are flung all over the place. I've never seen this before any other camera and was amused to notice that as he accelerates at the start of each leap, he opens his eyes and mouth then as he lands that step he closes both which he seems to repeat on each step.

The Tamron 70-180mm is all I hoped it would be. So light but still fast focussing and sharp. Build quality isn't as good as the GM lenses but it should be fine for an amateur like me
