I'm not a big fan of black and white TBH, so it's not something I do very often.

I just did it in Lightroom. with a couple of tweaks.:(
 
As it's quiet on here a couple of photos from me testing the cropping ability of the A7RV and the 70-350mm lens when a red kite flew by. Also a photo of my best friend Hugo. He is coming up to 14 years old in a month or so and is camera shy generally. I should have been better with more foreground and not clipping his paws.

I bought my Sony 40mm f2.5 before the cheaper alternatives came out but I bought the TTA 40mm f2 for the wider aperture but sadly it had issues on my camera and went back. It's "issue" with the cheaper brands which worry me and also some Chinese makes don't seem to have got to grips very well with flare as it seems to be a common criticism in reviews.

I think the only thing that could interest me is an A7cIII with the do everything back screen and 1/8,000 shutter or auto switching to the electronic shutter above 1/4,000.

I just bought an A7cii, so this is the most likely announcement.
 
A new A7R6 is most likely followed by new A7C, series camera bodies maybe even an A1III.

I’m not waiting or for anything, and I’m a bit ‘concerned’ that future bodies are going to have the grip of the A1II and A9III meaning it’s highly likely I’ll stick with the A1 for a very long time.

A bit off topic. My latest build... Miyota 8215 movement with an older Explorer type dial and hands in a 36mm case and mounted on a hairy arm.

Is anyone into "building" watches?

Very different, but I do quite a lot of digital (mainly Casio) watch modding, and find it very theraputic. I source parts from Ali Express also, and have always fancied building one myself, just need to decide what. Most of the watches I own (outside of the Mods) are sports/diver style pieces...

We had a meal in a restaurant opposite that Thai temple and of course I took pictures of it with my A7cII and Sony 40mm. I took some single shots and I did a couple of panoramas.

The view and the company were excellent but the pizza was rubbish and cold. Oh well :D

I think it's Wot Arun, The Temple of Dawn, in Bangkok. The traffic was epic.

Processing. It's taken me a while to knock the contrast out of Sony files and I still can't tame the viewfinder's excess contrast!
 
I can’t see this being true, there’s no need for the A1 series if they do this. Also wording like “professional AI Autofocus” makes me think it’s fake.

It would make sense if they give the A1 III a global shutter.

Although I think it’s more likely that the A7R6 will get a partially stacked sensor.

True, but they'd likely wait until an A1 with global shutter is out I think. Also, wording like "professional" AI autofocus makes me think it's bogus, nobody descibes AF as professional, hobbyist etc.

I wonder if they'll ever put the drive dial on the the A7 series and R series, I use that a lot.

The drive dial is one of the things they use to differentiate between prosumer and pro bodies so would be surprised to see that on any of the A7 series bodies.

I'd have thought high contrast was rather a lens thing than a camera thing?

High contrast and horribly vivid colours - definitely the electronics.

I've set the picture profile to something less garish and the EVF and screen look much better and the files still process OK. I can understand why some people refuse to move to mirrorless from OVF cameras.

This isn't something I've come across. Are these jpeg's or raws?

Imo the Sony cameras I've had have given a pretty neutral and even subdued look as opposed to some other brands which give a more coloured output and by coloured I mean affected, removed from reality.

On ovf v evf, I'd only go back with a gun to my head as ovf's are too limiting for me, for me evf's have too many advantages but we're all free to choose.

It has nothing to do with the files which look fine and I have nothing against EVFs as a viewing option (although I still consider their benefits marginal).

It's what I'm seeing in the A7V EVF that is awful. But I seem to have just about got it sorted now.

Sony EVF's aren't the best imo, I don't like how they go 'grainy' when you're autofocussing. I can't say I've noticed oversaturation or anything with mine, it looks quite natural to me. Of course, this will be user dependant.

I've never liked Sony profiles and is one of the reasons I don't shoot jpeg. For a long time I used color fidelity profiles but lately I've been using adobe ones as I like how the reds look in adobe.

It has nothing to do with the files and you have nothing against evf's?

In the post I first responded to you said it had taken you time to knock the contrast out of Sony files and you later said you understood why some people refuse to move to mirrorless so I'm now a bit confused what your issues were but if they're sorted now I wish you luck going forward.

The A73 EVF was OK out of the box.

If you shoot in crop you only get the crop image, but regardless of the ratio you shoot in I believe you will always get the 3:2 in raw.

Just re-read this, says 60fps readout speed, what does this even mean? 1/60, so around 16ms. If any of this is true then it’s still not going to be usable for most things with the electronic shutter.

That is why I thought it will only be partially stacked. A7R5 tbf is only 1/15 so would be a significant improvement over the older model.

Cheers mate. Yeah, I do love the results from this lens but sometimes MF obviously isn't very convenient (hence I bought the 35GM all those years ago) but for things like this and landscapes I find it very enjoyable to use. These were shot at 40mm and some in APSC mode (60mm ish?) as I prefer slightly longer for cars tbh
