The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Ah I guess you are a GM sort of a guy then ;-)
Ordinarily I'd view this as your dream BUT I wouldn't put it past you to realise that dream...
:police: GM Alert Riz is buying, so unless he is independently wealthy, Riz is selling too
Zoom:exit:Zoom

I firmly believe Sony lead in sensor technology and know where the sensor market is heading, the GM lenses are designed for the future and the upcoming Sony A9 so yes I'm looking forward to more GM lenses. ;) lol

These converters cost next to nothing right?? Which website you look for these lens pls?

Is there a way to set minimum shutter speed when we got Auto ISO on as I can't find it at all been looking.. it was straight forward on the D750..

The only way i have figured it out on the Sony is to Use M mode and set my shutter speed there and let the Auto ISO do it work... But there no option to set Minimum shutter speed for A Mode..

The A7II doesn't have a great minimum / maximum Auto ISO implementation, they fixed it on the A7RII.

Bit daft not to do it for the A7ii as it only a software issue I would of though.. But I just figured just use M mode then problem solve..

There is a lot which could be fixed with software updates / tweaks but Sony prefers to just focus on other aspects of the FE system.
The UI is absolutely a mess in my opinion!
Have a look but I'm sure even in M mode on the A7II you can't set a max / min shutter speed with auto ISO.

No it doesn't but I can set the shutter how I want it and aperture and let the ISO do it work

I've been thinking about letting my 24-70 f4 go. Let me think on it as I'm going out and if there is interest I'll put in classifieds.

I been playing with my camera most afternoon with little one which focus area lock on AF people like use when tracking

This depends on your technique / style of shooting.
I mostly use AF-C with Eye-AF. ;)

Has anyone hands on experience using the Sony FE 24-240 F3.5-6.3 OSS. Review site results are mixed to say the least, but I'd greatly appreciate a few owners views.

Hi,

I've not had any hands on time with the 24-240mm but I would strongly recommend you check out the 70-200mm f4 G OSS instead, admittedly it's about £200 more than the 24-240mm (new) but you'd get a very sharp lens which will easily allow you to crop more than the 240mm of the lens you've mentioned.
I'll be putting mine up for sake soon so you could consider a secondhand example instead of the 24-240mm :)

Eye AF never saw that in the selection

Best advice would be to check out the many reviews, guides or YouTube videos out there.
Or you could buy the A7II book? I have it and it's pretty useful.

Found it but eye AF doesn't work when AF-c is on

Thanks Riz I have messaged you

Adapters are cheap yes because they are dumb ones not electronic.

There are a few dealers about that still deal with older manual lenses but most of mine have come from eBay. I'm going to be selling a few of mine soon - Helios 44-2, Sigma 24 2.8 and Yashica long zoom - 75-200mm or something I think it is.

This was mentioned previously, from what I have been told Sony UK will increase the prices on 1st of August with around a 15-20% increase possible on some items.
For example I'm expecting the A7RII to go to £2999
The GM lenses excluding the 70-200mm to rise by £300.
I have seen the a7r2 advertised at £2999 already for next stocks :(

How people protecting their batteries. When I had Nikon and canon I used the supply cap to protect the contacts.

I use a ThinkTank battery wallet - takes 4 batteries (I use Ex-Pro pattern batteries):

Think they do one that takes two batteries and a couple of memory cards, but four batteries is worthwhile with an A7 in my opinion :)

On another subject, I've been doing a little digging on the new teleconverters - no chance of them fitting the 70-200 f4. The converters have a 10mm bit that protrudes into the lens, this is 30mm in diameter so won't fit into the rectangular hole in most Sony lenses. Not bothered to be honest - personally I'm happy with 200mm :)

How do the a7 batteries fit in these, are they loose given there small size?

A little loose, but not bad enough that they could fall out. I'll take a quick pic and post in a few mins...

Thanks have considering one of these for a while, at the moment I just throw my batteries into a small draw string lens pounch.

It's a good little case - silly price, but that's ThinkTank all over :)

I chuck things like this into an Amazon list, then the Missus forwards the list to all near Xmas. Means I don't get the constant "what do you want for Christmas" questions, which I can never answer when on the spot. Did quite well last year - had half the accessories I wanted for my A7 before I had the camera

A few images to share....... A7 body :)

FD85/1.8

Helios 135/2.8

Sigma SWII 24/2.8

Love the Mark 1 Escort, more of these please ;) What preset did you use for the processing of this and your other car pics?

Seascape's nice too (y)
