I've just a very quick and unscientific test in the garden and my thoughts are:
Size and Weight:
Handling wise, you can't really tell there's a body attached, its more a lens with a little block on. Personally I quite like it, my hand is positioned halfway down the lens and it balances really well.

Focusing:
My initial thoughts aren't positive I'm afraid, it locks on well, however it did hunt a little more than I'm used to (This may be don to being near the minimum focus distance). Im not sure how it would get on tracking moving bikes etc. I will have to give it a try sometime.
Accuracy and IQ:
When it did lock it did well and was sharp

Which country do you live in?We missed the rain and had a lovely walk and picked two jars of brambles and raspberries. I left my cameras at home and wished I hadn't.
That thing would be bad ass on a a6500 for reach.Wow sharper than the Canon version by a bit! https://www.dxomark.com/Reviews/Son...iew-Compact-and-optically-excellent-tele-zoom
Cuz there no competitionbut Sony is still £600 more expensive than canon? that's 30% more expensive
Cuz there no competition
Plus it does seem a better lens than the Canonthat doesn't make it any less expensive or make me feel any better about the price
Plus it does seem a better lens than the Canon
30% or £600 better? I think not
Well tell canikon to wake up and bring out a full frame mirrorless. Or fuji?Isn't that really annoying though? The fact you're getting fleeced by Sony because you don't have any alternatives?

Oh they are better for sureApplies to all the g masters though. Not that they are better than the Canikons.
Oh they are better for sure
Does the a7rii mc11 combo allow focusing wide open? I know Sony messed this up with a previous firmware across all lenses including native?
To satisfy your moaning about priceWhy? To satisfy your needs? DSLR still selling way more units than mirrorless worldwide. No point in changing strategies and profits yet. They will have stuff in the pipeline though... let Sony do all the legwork.
I'm making bramble and apple pies tomorrow and Mrs Woof Woof will put the raspberries in our fruit smoothies I don't think I've ever seen so many brambles, raspberries and elderberries locally.Which country do you live in?
Well with all the money you're spending on professional camera gear I expect to see some stunning shots. To satisfy your moaning about price

Are you sure? Maybe your Sony sources say so.
To satisfy your moaning about price
You have to remember that the Sony G Masters are relatively new and are using cutting edge technology, prices aren't cheap but they all seem to live up to the hype.
I guess it's personal to each and every one of us to decide if it's worth it or not.
That said both Nikon and Canon make fine glass too.
Anything I need reachWell with all the money you're spending on professional camera gear I expect to see some stunning shots.
As a matter of interest what will you be concentrating on with the 100/400.
Everybody moans about Sony's prices, even I do but if you want something, they you pay the prices.
Who wouldn't want a sports car for the price of a micra!
Yup. Lots available to see. Gm lenses are no jokePlenty of lens tests available online, maybe worth a check.
Like a a7r2.Or use a FE body in crop mode?
