My local Volvo specialist replaced my brake pads free of charge and lent me a V40 for the day.

That was both free and good service! :D

I never had free service from Elstree, only ever sent stuff in for repair but always done right and got it back fast (Platnium CPS). Then I claim it back from insurance minus excess of £50.
 
I’ve had no issues with customer service since owning Sony bodies.
I have owned the following bodies with only the Sony A9 requiring to be sent back for the hot-shoe recall.
A7
A7 II
A7R II
A7R II
A9
A7 III

When it comes to warranty transfers they have been quick and smooth, something I believe Nikon or Canon do not offer.
Unlike Nikon & Canon, the warranty and extended warranties can be transferred to new owners which I think is great from a resale point of view.

Pretty sure t was the XF1 which had the problems, it was switched on by tuning the lens. Lovely small camera but it was a question of when not if it failed

Samyang 35mm 1.4fe or sigma 35mm 1.4 art?

I've watched a load of reviews and people favour the samyang image quality surprisingly, even though I imagine they are both decent. The sigma is more expensive but comes with a 3 year warranty.

I've had all 3, incl Zeiss, optically the sigma is best... By a fair bit.

I read d750 weren't even sniffed till weeks later and many calls. It was definitely a screw thing though.... What a recall.... Half of the d750s had to be replaced, but I was still impressed that they recognised and dealt with it at their own expense.... Plus a free shutter no matter the count.

[emoji1] The native version looks like they just fitted an adaptor and then smoothed it over. I'm half tempted with the samyang.

I shoot Sony mainly because it's the only manufacturer that offers FF EVF cameras (bar Leica) since A99 days. Soon that won't be unique to Sony so they'll have to do something extra ;)

If I find something better all things considered inc. costs I'll jump ship otherwise I'll stay. Simples :D
 
Any cheaper alternatives to the 70-200 that can do decent low light sports? Any longer primes our there that might work?

Anyone using the 70-200 F4?

From the outside looking in (I'm following Canikon with interest but have no intention of buying) I can't see what the new systems offer over Sony. I don't have legacy Nikon AF lenses and I'm not a blogger :D

What does the Nikon offer that's got you interested?

I couldn’t make my mind up so I bought the Zeiss 35 f/1.4 and the Sigma 35 f/1.4 and will just return the one I decide not to keep. They both arrived today. Camera won’t be here until the end of the week though. :mad:

Nikon has the super wide mount for the £6000 0.95 Noct lens nobody can afford [emoji1]

Because it wouldn’t be much cheaper than a 35mm f/1.4 I would imagine so why would anyone buy it.

The Nikon and Canon ones wont be bargain prices and if Sony did a compact one for £800 or less and it was really good, maybe 55mm f1.8 size and good, I'd be happy enough.

Because what I can sell mine for will not cover a 2nd hand Sony one and I’m on a bit of a budget switching over!

The Canon 35/1.4 L mk2 is £1700, more than the Sony Zeiss….(although it is better), but modern lenses now are 50% more than it was 10 years ago in the previous generations of lenses. Expect all the new Canon mirrorless lenses to match or more than Sony's. That 50/1.2, £1999….
