The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Mmm, I am looking at the Sigma but its difficult to justify when the Canon 16-35mm f/4 works so well on the Sony with the MC-11.
It’s the extra stop of light and the native mount I guess but whether that will give much of a difference over the converted canon Lens. My most testing application will be using it for fast action on the dance floor so whether AF will be up to speed with the converted canon lens? Also whether all of the AF tracking features will still be possible too

Do like the first one, very nice indeed.

All taken on "The Lines" today. I've walked them all my life and since Mrs WW came we've walked them together but we may never go there again as a group of school kids threw stones and racially abused Mrs WW. It's the first time we've had any trouble and it has to happen just yards from home. They even said "What you gonna do?" and of course what could I do? If I lamped them I'd be the one under arrest. Phoned the police for all the good that'll do. So, our world just got a bit smaller.

Sorry to hear that. ..don’t know what else to say..

Thats a horrible thing to happen and sorry to hear that too. When it comes to things like that I'm afraid I would have lost it and threw stones back at them or given then a hiding. It's terrible how the victims can get punished more than the attackers. A lot of things that I don't agree with in this modern day society.

Really sorry to hear that. Having been on the receiving end a few times it's not nice at all and I really feel for your family.
The last one which still baffles me was right after the Brexit vote someone told me I should just "go back home now". I am not even from Europe

Edit:
Just want to say don't waste your time and mental capacity thinking about the bigots, they are not worth it.
More you think about it more they have "won". they don't deserve any of my thoughts and shouldn't deserve yours also.

Don't know how you kept your cool. I don't handle stuff like that well I don't think those responsible would be walking for a bit. I don't think of the consequences. If you have Facebook see if there is a community group and post details about it someone might know them.
Actually then throwing stones is physical assault your well within your right to defend yourself. Get the Mrs to film it for evidence and you'd be fine, especially if it happened again and you'd already reported it before.
Scum like then need dealing with, their next target might be a young person on their own.

Maybe talk the the school if you know which one it is

Thanks all.

I don't think I will and I'll explain why... Twice I've restrained someone until the police arrived and on both occasions the guilty party ended up with my name and address and one came to my home the following day and there was another confrontation after which he never came back. So, what I've learned from this is the police just can not be trusted to keep details to themselves and in hindsight I regret even phoning them now. So, I just hope this is over and never happens again.

I am so sorry to hear of this Alan, you showed restraint as my answer would of been what Gil said below. I now carry my monopod everywhere when I have my camera on me.

Agree.

Have to agree Alan, the police these days are a waste of time and not to be trusted, do a Dave and take a monopod with you next time. Hope Mrs WW is ok.

This makes me so angry. I’m sorry you had to go through this. Please don’t let it stop you getting out and about even though I understand how difficult that must be.

After yesterday we decided to stay in today and this was my only picture. My view as I'm doing the washing up :D I like to see the fence when the light is on it. Here the focus is on the foliage sticking up. A7 and TT 50mm at f8. I think it's really sharp in the central area.

100%. I hope the sharpness survives the posting process. If not you'll just have to believe me :D

I've gone from thinking of sending this lens back and it not being worth £78 because of the vignetting and tint to quite liking it and deciding to keep it. I'm finding that every picture has to be individually processed for best effect though and maybe that is how it should be done and I've just got a bit lazy applying my standard profile to everything in a batch.

That looks plenty sharp enough for me Alan.

Yes but with this lens you have to accept that when using f4 or wider there's possibly going to be significant vignetting and maybe some blue tint in the corners plus the corners are never anything but smeared, it's worse than the Voigtlander 35mm f1.4 in Sony mount for smeared corners. But... not every shot is a mess and a time consuming nightmare to process as it really does depend on the lighting, the composition, the aperture and the length at which you focus.

I now do believe that with eyes wide open and knowing the plus and minus points this is a steal at £78. On APS-C probably even more so.

That's a cracker George, love the lines, after starting at the cap the eye gets drawn along then round the corner (y)

Thank you kindly Pete, appreciate your reply.

Just out of interest and because IMO these cameras do look lovely...

It's been a lovely sunny blue sky morning here. Has anyone been out taking pictures?

No I was up on the garage roof at 7am brushing the water off and drying it as best I can. I should have put a new roof on it this year but it will have to wait until next now need a dry warm week.
So for now it's liquid rubber every time it springs a leak.

Managed to get one worthwhile picture before having to rush to the local medical centre for my flu/covid boosters.
Taken with my Canon R7 though so not allowed in here.

My arm is aching already, last time it lasted days.
Canon R7 is the body I want for the Sony 70-350mm lens I have

My job to do is to cut the lawns possibly for the last time this year. I'm busy today but might get it done tomorrow. Was in Middlesbrough town centre this morning and the light was beautiful but I was in too much of a rush to take a camera.

I set an alarm, looked out, completely clear... Weighed up the options and went back to bed. We've currently taken the 50 minute drive to see the step daughter, partner and baby grandson. Decided to take the Escort seeing as it's a bright sunny day, it's freshly MOT'd and I did an embarrassing low number of miles the previous 12 months!

I am planning on sunrise at Burnham lighthouse tomorrow though because the tide is a high one and should surround the lighthouse. It's not often a very high tide falls at sunrise with a reasonable cloud forecast .....

I havent posted in a long time, a7iv. Zeiss 55mm, 24-105 and Samyang 35 f1.4 used in these.

Great stuff, I particularly like the light bulb and the lady blowing smoke on the skull photos.
