I'd be surprised if it's a lie, surely no company is stupid enough to make false claims like this? As we know though, there are many different ways people test DR.

Agreed, I did see some comments saying they state that it’s with mechanical shutter only. I didn’t notice that in the specs

I think DR is always reduced when using the fully ES. I always forget and any landscpaes I've done with the A1 have been with the ES, I've still found them to have plenty of DR and scope for editing.Unfortunately only a very limited number of cameras have been tested to show the DR with both mechanical and electronic shutter on photons to photos, I don't think DXO specify MS or ES.

As I mentioned in one of my previous posts, canon drops the bit rate and/or dynamic range in favour of FPS and fast readout.
Basically with normal sensor you cannot readout all the data quick enough to avoid rolling shutter and shoot at higher frame rate, so they just read less of it
This is less of an issue with a stacked sensor in R5ii but on a non-stacked sensor like R6II or original R5 its massive hit to IQ.
I would like to see the results on R6iii when its up but I feel it'll be more like R6ii, may be slightly better but probably not much more if its not even partially stacked.

So Z6III takes a 1 stop hit to the DR (compared to Z6ii) but for whatever reason this is the case whether you use ES or MS.
Pana S1ii on the other hand gets the full native DR in MS and reduces the DR while shooting ES only.
I get the feeling Sony has gone down panasonic's route but not sure....

Just had a quick look at the video you are referring to, Tony is purely talking about video DR and not stills which I guess is where some of the confusion is. Sony don't mention DR in video AFAIK.

I don't know which camera has the highest DR, unfortunately there's hardly any cameras that have been tested with ES. I think there's only 1 Sony, the A6700, and 3 or 4 Canon. I think there's 1 or 2 Olympus as well. I'm not sure why they don't do both for every cameraLooks amazing! I guess that would mean this has the highest dynamic range on the market?

Yeah seems that the didn’t lie regarding DR but they have also applied NR baked into the raw files
Also just received a notification from Sony’s YouTube regarding a licensing agreement for the ZV E1, to allow 4k 120.

yeah they are supposed using some kind of "AI NR". Canon have been doing this since R5/6. they use that technique to match Sony's DR, now Sony with similar method might have gotten a bigger boost.
I *think* with ES a7v probably still loses about a stop or so of DR but that brings it to the level of A7IV because of this boost at base ISO with mechanical shutter.

I'm sure there will be, but when is anyone's guess. Still some time away I'd suggest. I wonder how fast the readout speed would be on a 61mp partially stacked sensor, I'd guess still not fast enough to make it truly usable. I can't see them going fully stacked sensor as this would impact on the A1, unless the A1 goes global next of course.now I am wondering if there will be an A7RVI with similar tech

New update for the A1, it's been given he horizontal and vertical display and a few other bits. I'll hang off updating for a few weeks to see if there's any bugs.

A very useful update. No issues as far as I can see after updating but I have only given it a quick test. Ability to rate on both cards simultaneously very welcome for me although I wish it worked for protect too. Custom and small, extra small focus points too. I may just keep my A1 as it is still extremely capable and I'm not sure I really need to upgrade a second A1 to the A1ii

Got my A7III and 28mm f2 back. I lent it to someone while I was in Thailand. Using it again made me think that I like the A7cII but I do wish it had either just a tilting or the do it all back screen. I do like having the back screen in line with the camera rather than sticking out at the side. I also wish Sonly would do a better 28mm f2. The original is small and light but IMO the corners are rubbish at anything less than f8.

I haven't used it enough to make an informed decision. What is easily noticeable is it definitely picks up heads and eyes far more easily on more distant subjects. That doesn't necessarily mean sharper images though so not sure it is a big advantage apart from the user's confidence in the camera. Some of teh advantages have been eroded with the new firmware for teh A1. It wasn't difficult getting sharp images with the A1. The A9iii is definitely a tad quicker at AF. Hoping to get out and do some bird photography soon. That is one area the A1 ii will have an advantage over the A9iii by virtue of the extra pixels
