Is that image quality, or all round such as AF?

A.F will be lightening quick on this as it has the same motors as the new f/1.2.Is that image quality, or all round such as AF?

I'm more than happy with the GM so I won't be swappingA.F will be lightening quick on this as it has the same motors as the new f/1.2.
Should easily be on a par with the G.M
Have watched a few reviews basically it’s now on a par with the G.M with the advantage of not having the mad focus breathing the G.M does and some say slightly sharper. If you have the G.M it wouldn’t be worth changing unless like me you don’t like the G.M’s colour cast.
I think I might grab this one and hand down the G.M to my missus.

Well that was your fault pointing out the softness in those portrait shootsWe heard this story with the Samyangs...............................................................................................

Focus breathing on the 50 f1.2 is sometimes incredibly annoying if you want to do Orton effect shots.
didn't realise orton was still in fashion
you can still do the orton shots just need to focus in and crop versus focussing out.
Focus breathing on the G.M is pretty bad tbf. For a lot of people that will be a good enough reason to switch.at this point when I consider a 35 it would have to be considerably cheaper than the GM to consider it.
Obviously UK price it will be cheaper but grey we will have to see, I struggle to find any retailers selling sigma grey. Never had much luck on Nikon with any of their glass either.
Gm grey 780, sigma uk 850
Most reviews I’ve watched say it’s not improved on the GM anyway, just matched . As sharp in the centre but still softer at the edge and only improves on focus breathing.

According to the reviews definitely. So is the new sigma lens much better than my old art one?
Sounds good. I'll try it out in the Photographer's show next monthAccording to the reviews definitely.
Can’t always believe the reviews though.
Focus breathing is something I never see, I guess I don’t take the types of shots it shows itself. I don’t do/very rarely do close focus shots and I don’t do video. Knowing me if I did it would really get on my nervesFocus breathing on the G.M is pretty bad tbf. For a lot of people that will be a good enough reason to switch.

Very nice on the A7V upgrade. I was considering the same but reckon I should have some time with my A7iii and the 35mm GM first. And I've just come across the Tamron 35-150mm - this could be a good replacement for my 28-75. Enjoy the upgrade and let us know what you think, especially coming from the A7iii.I’m in the process of switching up all my kit.
Selling my a7iii and 85 1.8 today
I also have the 28-75(v1) and was considering selling that and buying my a7v with the 24-70gmii. But not sure the extra £800 is worth the upgrade.
Will definitely all be bought grey
I’ve got my heart set on the 50 1.2 gm but I’m questioning if the 1.4gm would be enough or if I would regret not buying the 1.2… typically I just missed a used one for sale at £800 in as new condition . That would have 100% made my mind up.
Seems very nice on reviews many saying not much difference in images but scroll random images of each I always fine some of the 1.2 just having something special looking about them.. could just be more of the users are better photographers.
I’m the most indecisive person ever and have a million different opinions on my head
1.2 with extra cash and save for another lens (Viltrox 85 1.4 maybe)or kit or 50/35 1.4 at the same time…
Then is owning the 28-75 silly
He said you cant get anywhere if you use godox lights. Thats where i completely lost any interest in this apparently arrogant characterThis bloke appeared on Youtube so I watched a couple of his vids. I've no idea who he is but he seems to have been successful. I found his vids interesting as he says things which other reviewers generally don't. I did like his comments on falloff in this one and his comments on automatic lenses.

In other news, lol, of course Sigma announce a new 35mm just after purchasing the GM but sounds like you'd be a happy customer with either. Plus, I barely use video so don't think the focus breathing issue would really effect me.

Focus breathing does not only just effect video it effects photo as well. It will cause issues if you want to stack and also the lens becomes wider at short focus distances which depending on what you are doing can be a pain. May not be an issue for you though. In other news, lol, of course Sigma announce a new 35mm just after purchasing the GM but sounds like you'd be a happy customer with either. That's a cracking lens to get that 50 to 150A while back would have been all over this.
Sigma 85mm F1.2 DG | Art Lens Development Announcement | sonyalpharumors
We have now the official development announcement of the previously rumored Sigma 85mm F1.2 DG | Art Lens. However I think I might get a 50-150 f/2 instead.
The only thing that puts me off is size and weight but it would replace a 50, 85 and 135 and potentially more useful although I would really miss my 50 f/1.2.That's a cracking lens to get that 50 to 150

First ride of the year? Have you considered divorce bro? Finally a couple of days of dry weather meant I could get out on my first ride of the year

It is borderline acceptable to post highly contentious technical points in a forum like this, but remember these youtube vids from this chap present the public face of his fairly substantial brand. His direct clients might not care about these topics if all else is perfectly on track, but if he does or plans to do any teaching he is well and truly out of consideration. Maybe it is their little elitist clique or whatever.... at the very top you get away with just 1 dot or a single line on a blank canvas. He did go on at length about when he'd use what but maybe in another vid. I do see how he could be annoying if you take him too seriously. I just liked it when he said things most don't.
I disagree with him that MFT can't compete with "crop". I suppose it depends what we compare and in what light but IMO my MFT cameras competed very well with my X100s/f.
This is always worth a watch (especially from around 8:57) for those that doubt the quality of m4/3.It is borderline acceptable to post highly contentious technical points in a forum like this, but remember these youtube vids from this chap present the public face of his fairly substantial brand. I too happen to say a lot what others hold back. On here. I try not to post things I might professionally regret on youtube or my blog, let alone printed media. He is a great example of what not to do.
Professional equipment is really what allows a professional to achieve professional grade results. Not a brand snobbery show.
Seiko watch. Poverty spec. You should get a Rolex.
Driving vw or audi? 2014? Meh. Show up in Bentley or keep on driving.
Shooting Godox? Better luck bringing Profoto next time. Actually Broncolor nad Elinchrom trumps that. FAIL.
Canon, Nikon Sony, even Fuji GFX? Meh. Haselblad is entry level. Phase one is really expected.
And so on...
Regarding your last point - it really depends what for. Resolution is not the strong part at the moment if your baseline output is A1+ poster print (other use cases are available). In fact why bother if you can't print 5m long on demand... /sarcasm
I am currently playing with DJI Mavic 3c which is basically your standard 20MP MFT and it is a little underwhelming what I got out of it so far. The little lens may be the biggest culprit. There is a fair bit of noise too. Video looks very nice, and in theory you should have no problem getting A3 or a little higher prints from that sensor with a good lens.
I believe mavic 4 really upped the game through. 25MP and it looks proper good based on publicly available RAW samples. You are pushing A1 here. So MFT has some nice potential, let alone all the other use cases

Compared to some on here including you, and this is not an insult to you or anyone here, stocking up on a few packets of rice and pasta seems a lot more normal to me than obsessing over which f1.2 or f1.4 is the lens you must have otherwise you lose all credibility in a thread on the net.
The only time I can tell f1.2 vs f1.4 is comparing images side by side, on their own I don’t know if it’s f1.2 or f1.4.Yeah im not a video guy but may give it a go.
Not going to swap the 28-75 for the 24-70
Definitely getting a new 50.
As I said my hearts set on the 1.2 not sure how much of a difference there actually is but after days of looking at images for both there does seem to be a slightly difference.
I just now I will regret it if I don’t. but 1/4 of the cost saving on the 1.4 is a fair amount..
If I buy the 1.4 I can buy a 35 or a used 200-600 straight away with the 1.2 I will need to wait 3-6months.. or can sell the 28-75

Apparently you are only allowed to discuss cheap lenses from China that cost £80. If you discuss higher end equipment you are only doing that so that you have "credibility in a thread on the net." It doesn't matter that you might need that stuff for work or not. Maybe the thread title should be changed too "Old Sony bodies and cheap lenses" so as to avoid the risk of offending anyone.
I don’t have any brand loyalty either, but the FE mount system definitely ticks more boxes than any other system for me.I can't say I have any great brand loyalty but I like compact kit![]()
