The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Tried it, doens't look anything like it  It could be the scene of course so I will try it with different scenes but I don't think it's close.
I seen someone do it on YouTube or TikTok the other day and it was very close was even able to create the XMP file for them etc.

Video could have been faked off course or maybe just an easier one to do. Those photos were also shot in high sun in the winter so difficult to replicate unless it’s the same conditions.

Looking for opinions - Sonya7iv and 100-400gm. I want more reach, should I go 200-600 or get a 1.4x or 2.0x converter?

Had the 200-600mm with both TCs
For UK weather even with 1.4x it's pretty dark and unusable majority of the time.

2x it's plain useless imo from both image quality hit and aperture perspective.

Personally I swapped it for sigma 500mm f5.6. What it lacks in range it more than makes up with sharpness especially on A7RV. YMMV.

How much does a used Sony 35 f/1.4 GM sell for these days? About £750?

Well that depends how much people are clued up.

Only 780 new grey and mpb trade in is just over 600 for an excellent/as new.

EBay has such a variety of sold in the past 3 months from 660-900. The later I expect are actually new.
Fb market seems to be 700-750 with the odd outlier on each end( been following them for a month or two when deciding on which 50 to buy.)

Price it where you want and go down if no one bites. I will say sales seem very slow on fb at least .
One 50 1.2 has been up for near two months asking 900 and a 1.4 for 675.
The two 35’s I had been watching have been on for months but they are both around 800.

I paid 825 for my 50 1.2 but I wasn’t will to pay anymore as I may as well have spend a bit more and got a warranty

I use the 100-400mm GM with the 1.4xTC, works well for me, although most of the time I use it without and just crop.

Some new toys to play with. :)

This might be interesting if it does save bulk and weight.

Looks interesting I’m sure the price will be similarly interesting.
Would love someone to make lens that had the character of the Nikon 58mm.
I always envied that lens.
That lens was rubbish :D

Lots of people waxed lyrical about it after spending major pounds for o.o.f photos. :D Including myself twice.

I love how Sigma is just in the groove of releasing all these fast glass nobody has asked for. I WANT ONE! I might seldom use them (looking at my 105/1.4), but they sure are cool.

65/1.0 is going to be enormous for a 65mm, the Canon 50/1.0 was big enough already.

This will likely be much lighter than the figures quoted here. A.I really can be be dumber than dumb sometimes.

The lens will however need heavy software correction.

They are gonna market this as the best lens in their history, it will need to be special.

Can anyone tell me if it’s possible to buy ND Filters in Madeira? Landed here today and forgot my filters. :(
Here's a screenshot from google, I believe Amazon also delivers to Madeira, maybe there's even a Madeira amazon site?

At last a lens to get excited about, maybe?

These days even 50mm is a bit long for me but I did get used to 50mm on MFT and took a lot of pictures at that length, so never say never.

65mm is excellent for portraits as compared to 85 you get to show more of the scene and tell the story better with less distortion that you get using a 50mm.

I checked Amazon, earliest delivery is May the 19th o_O

Thanks for the screenshot, I’ll check out the Kamera cosmeticos store as it’s quite close. :)
Worst comes to worst you can blend exposures on post to simulate long exposures. Can take a bit of effort but you can try this if all other options fail

I think 65 is more or less in the sweet spot with 50 and wider and 85 and longer having their own visual effects if you go looking and object to them.

I think whatever the focal length it's going to suit some things better than others, I'm not convinced 65mm is going to be any better or worse than the other focal lengths. Of course it fills a nice gap between 50mm and 85mm.

I can try this when I’m back, just been out and took 40-50 shots, not sure how this will turn out or whether that’s enough photos but we’ll see.

Looked all over Funchal for a camera shop but nowhere sells ND filters unfortunately.

Took a trip to FNAC but they’re having financial difficulty so their shops are now closed and you can only order online with a 10-20 day wait time for the island which is also no good.

Depends on your shutter speed.

You can work out how many pictures you need. Just add up the shutter speed of the individual shots.
Alternative way to look at it if you need 5stops ND filter effect i.e. increase your exposure time by 5 stops, you will need around 2^5 images i.e. 32 shots
The amount shots required can get quickly out of hand... 10stops would require like 1000+ shots!

I think I would just forget about taking long exposures in that situation :ROFLMAO:

yeah... as you know exposure blending to drag out shutter speed is also used in Astrophotography.
there we are trying to capture as much light as possible in a dark environment. so don't end up needing as many shots since your staring point is like 5-10-20-30s exposures already.

If you are shooting in day light your shutter speed is say 1/250s at f/11... to drag out that 1/250s to 1s, you need a 8stops ND filter or like 250 shots unfortunately!

We’ll see how 50 shots turns out when I’m back home.

For now though I’m just going to enjoy some normal photography, only got the 1 lens with me so kind of limited but it’ll be good to test myself with the 24-70.

Only real wish would have been an extra day to get hold of the 35GM because the landscapes here are amazing.
