The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Tempting but having considered the refurb I'm not sure what I would do with a 135mm focal length!

I been reading a Mag/Book on B&W photography in an attempt to try and improve my B&W presentations. So I've been playing around with a few shots and various different mono conversions. This shot's of the "Old Borough Arms" at the bottom of Mermaid Street (Rye).

X-T1, 18-55mm Lens, 1/480th @ F8, ISO-200, Handheld.

Nice framing on the left and right with nice light on the main building

Thanks for that Damian, I'm a couple of steps closer to taking the plunge, really I'm only holding out to see what the X-T2 has to offer.

Always tough to shoot in direct sunlight but you controlled highlights well. As said, nice framing. I like the tone of the sky, did you use a red filter or is it a result of the bright whites pulling the exposure down?
Either way, exposure is spot on. Looks like a nice place :)

Edit: also, is that a subtle sepia tone or just my phone screen warming it up? Adds to the image either way lol

"No filters used, just a straight colour shot PPd in Lightroom and then converted to mono and tweaked in PS".

Honestly, I can see no discernable difference. I'm viewing on my phone but the images don't seem full size.
It's a nice capture nonetheless. I very much doubt either processing style would make or break it, but I understand what you're trying to do.
Maybe link to Flickr for proper resolutions?

Thanks for the feedback Jimmy. You won't see any difference on a phone. Need to view these full-size at 1024 pixels.

Yes Sir, I have slightly toned the shot. I was trying to re-create the look of an old warm toned "Kodak Bromesko" printing paper that I used to use in a darkroom.(y)

Feeding time at the zoo! This Silverback enjoys his porridge :) Taken with X-T1 and 50-140

Really really like this, such an evocative image that has been nicely rendered in B&W.

Will be a tad picky though and suggest a minor perspective correction to make the bars straight.

Thanks - and you're right about the bars (my laziness - I always forget something!)

Done mine. Focus peaking does seem a little more precise, as in the "slice" that it considers to be in focus seems a little thinner. Maybe i'm imagining it... ;)

Firmware updated and in no time at all, too. Piece of the proverbial cake :)
