The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I have heard that if you have the Fuji App, you can now do the Firmware updates on the X-T3 saving time doing it on the card.
Interestingly, Olympus did, or might still do, updates via your browser direct from their server. They got slated for this by many who wanted to do it via a memory card ...

Yeah you can, when you first boot up the camera it asks if you want to connect to your phone, if you do it will then check and update as required. I chose not to, but I know from others thast it works well.

I think I will stick to the card like I have from day one, hope Jessops get back to me today too about the silver X-T3 coming in :)

I updated mine via the app. It was so quick and easy it was all finished before I had finished looking through the accessories in the box!

I think I will stick to the card like I have from day one, hope Jessops get back to me today too about the silver X-T3 coming in :)

I've just had an email saying that it could be a couple of weeks for a black one to come in but they are expecting silver sooner.

My X-T10 was silver, my X-T2 is black . The base of the silver body was I found much more prone to being marked by the tripod plate etc . Plus I found the white on black markings on the X-t2 dials much easier to read in dim light. Think I'll stick with the black.

And I've just had one from Wex saying that my pre order black body is in stock . However Jessops are offering £100 more trade-in.... Think I will just wait!

See, having a reasonably powerful beard means I am obliged to only consider the hipster d'bag version of said camera

Good news for any Capture one Pro 11 users, just done mine :)

Phase One announces software collaboration with Fujifilm

COPENHAGEN, Sep. 25, 2018 – Phase One A/S, the world’s leading manufacturer of full frame medium format digital photography systems and imaging solutions today announced a strategic software agreement with Fujifilm.

Under terms of this agreement, Phase One and Fujifilm are collaborating to broaden and deepen Capture One software support of more Fujifilm cameras. With the release of Capture One 11.3 (see today’s announcement) Capture One has significantly expanded its Fujifilm camera support, with full Fujifilm RAW file and basic tethered support for select cameras. Future development will integrate Fujifilm Film Simulations with Capture One and provide enhanced tethered support for select professional Fujifilm cameras.

Capture One is today considered the professionals’ choice in image editing software. With native support for more than 500 camera models, it offers fast and powerful RAW conversion, image editing and asset management. Fujifilm has a distinguished history of engineering innovative color reproduction in its range of cameras. Thus, the collaboration between Fujifilm and Phase One is a natural development -- based upon shared values such as the commitment to color fidelity to achieve the highest image quality.

“Phase One has designed Capture One both to inspire photographers and to ensure the best workflow and user experience,” said Jan Hyldebrandt-Larsen, VP Software Business at Phase One. “We are proud to be working to share with Fujifilm shooters the opportunity to benefit from Capture One’s highly responsive processing engine, unmatched color handling, precision-editing tools, and seamless tethered support.”

Fujifilm Film Simulations

“Film Simulations” -- one of the key features of the newest X/GFX camera -- represent the color and tonality of various photographic films in a digital capture. Currently the camera has 16 modes available that suit various scenes and subjects. For example, “Provia””Velvia” and ”Astia” reproduce iconic Fujifilm color reversal films; “Classic Chrome” conveys the iconic look and feel of Photographic Magazines from the 1950’s; “PRO Neg.Std” and ”PRO Neg.Hi” reproduce Professional Negative Film used in Portrait Studios; and Black and White “ACROS” reproduces smooth tonality, with a higher D- Max and rich texture.

Has anyone had an issue finding frame rate higher than 8fps on x-t3? I.E. the 11, 20 and 30 fps options.

These were there in drive setting within menu but now seem to have disappeared since updating firmware, though this is perhaps just coincidence and I’m doing something stupid...

is it because you're in mechanical shutter rather than electronic?

Tried both but 11 FPS option is MS anyway.

Menu for CH drive setting seems stuck on page 2/2 offering 8fps option only. Previously it was like a multi choice window with all options. Odd.

@Dave70D
CaptureOne.Win.11.3.0.exe ?
The page indicated this is a 30 day trial, not "a complimentary imaging editor for supported Fujifilm cameras".
Did you find the Fuji Specific one?

The Free one that I downloaded is called Express Fujifilm, but you can buy the whole of it which is Pro Fujifilm for about £237.
PS: You have to already have Capture one Pro 11 though.

OK, it's down to the battery. Put a 126S battery in the camera and all CH options available up to 30fps.

Put a 126 non 's' in it and only option is 8fps. And then, even if you have an 's' battery in camera, if you add battery grip with plain old Fuji own 126, or 3rd party batteries in the grip, it reverts back to 8fps maximum!!!

Bizarre. I wonder if that's intended...

Can anyone recommend a good backpack for an X-T3, 10-24, 16-55, 55-200 (or 50-140) Lee Filters Holder and Filters and a Mavic 2 Pro?

It will be used for Landscape, mountain walks etc so has to have good weather protection.

I use a Mindshift BackLight 36L for my Nikon gear and that's a great bag however if I put my fuji gear in it the bag just eats it up and it gets lost in there as the bag is quite deep.

I have a Thinktank Trifecta 8 which is a nice bag but a little too small to use for the above.

Andy Mumford's packing tutorial is worth a watch and he has some recommendations.

Thanks for the Link. I considered the Fstop system before I purchased te Mindshift as at the time it was specifically for my Nikon gear.

One bad back later, I want to try my Fuji system on a couple of hikes so maybe the Fstop would have been the better option as I could have swapped the ICU's depending on what camera system I was using.

I'll wait incase someone recommends another bag specifically for the Fuji gear but may look to trade it the mindshift (don't want to as it's an a excellent bag).

I'm not quite sure where the confusion is coming from.

For the Mac at least, there is only one downloadable for Capture One 11, I expect it is the same for Windows. When you run the software for the first time you get to choose the version you wish to run, there are many. The Fuji Express and Pro versions are listed. You can of course run a trial of the 'full' Pro version which gives you all the functionality - or buy or enter a license key. You can't trial Fuji Pro - the full Pro trial is the same, just with more cameras.

You don't have to own Capture One 11 Pro in order to run Capture One Pro 11 Fujifilm - they are the same program, just with different camera support. The current 5 major options you can choose from are:

Pro - full software with access to all cameras £289
Pro Sony - full software but only Sony cameras £89
Pro Fujifilm - full software but with only Fuji cameras (subscription only - €159+VAT)
Express Sony - reduced feature set for Sony cameras only
Express Fujifilm - reduced feature set for Fuji cameras only

The Express version lose multiple catalogues and the use of sessions, camera tethering, workspaces and various customisations, advanced colour editing and various other bits and pieces. The engine is the same though and I believe Styles (presets) will work on all versions - so someone could create a really tweaked Style in Pro and then someone in Express could use it...

What he said...

Incidentally, the fuji pricing is not great. Subscription only is the first issue, and secondly, while it is lower, by the time you add in the ubiquitous vouchers, it's around a tenner a year cheaper than the full, any camera, pro version. The vouchers only give 5% of Fuji, but 10% of the full subscription.

The Express version is also very crippled. You would still need to retain another tool to do the basics - spot removal, verticals etc. They are all removed, is it perhaps best viewed as a replacement for something like Iridient (with a nicer UI).
