The mpb sponsored competition with exciting prizes

Building up to a good set of entries I think and very varied in subject etc.

Not a fan of Brian May but that is great photo, who'd of thought you get a cracking image like that from such simple kit :) make you wonder why we spend shed lots of dosh on new gear

PS I know the answer as a I buy lots of stuff I really don't need
Thank you!

I was pleasantly surprised myself as I hadn’t used that camera for about 8 years since getting a more modern DSLR at the time.

The main thing is that I didn’t really know what I was doing with it back then. Now, with a lot more experience I got far better results. It took about 2 seconds from taking each shot to the next one. Focus and everything was slow. Key things were exposure settings, steady hand, shutter timing to capture key moments with not much movement - needed longer shutter speed than I would normally want to use.

In the end there were quite a few decent images. I put a few more in the “pics you took today” thread.

I’m loving the other entries, looks like it will be a fun competition.

Shame, come on people “get your gear out” as that Australian YouTuber used to say!

It’s a bit of fun and who knows you might win. “Got to be in it to win it”!

I'm sure between now and the last day for entries more will put in.

TBH I'm expecting a flurry of entries within the last week

I can't find it, but Cobra did a How to clean your camera once. Did a great job too.

And the lens

Those brushes don't remove the stubborn smears from a lens half as well as a Brillo Pad. HTH. (y)

It was just "muddy" from the sand the brush shifted it (y)

Although and this is true, some years ago, a certain member ( not posted in years) did actually use a "greenie" to clean the sensor,
and yes it was totally FUBAR'd

I see it like this, I am not a great photographer, I shoot for pleasure and if MPB want to run a competition and give some winners some money to spend, KUDOS to them and TP for allowing it, I am in and have read the rules and none put me off, well #17 wont be pretty if I do manage a miracle:ROFLMAO:

Just had to go back and read no.17 to see what the fuss was about , WOW a trip to Brighton would do me nicely not been there since a well known event in the 60’s . Ending up sleeping in a boat on the beach out of the way of the rockers .. at least the Vespa g.s survived the night …
We are we are we are the mods .. once sung never forgotten LOL

Hmmmm ... red Ben Sherman or white Fred Perry Polo ...

Not a moan or gripe, just a comment...
I was all ready to enter, had the image all planned, then saw mpb's full T&Cs, and there it states UK residents only. What a shame for us living in Europe, as mpb are a pan-european concern with a dedicated European site which we get redirected to from the UK one. Just think it would have been nice for us to be included...
Perhaps something they could consider if and when they run another competition in conjunction with TP.

Good luck to all the entrants, and I look forward to seeing the winners...

Honestly, I wouldn’t worry. I don’t think much actual thought went into the T&C’s for this specific TP competition. It was thrust upon them to post something and a ‘stock’ set was posted. Post your photo.

Thanks, Roger, but I think I'll wait until someone 'in authority' can say yeah or nay.;)
