Absolutely love all those different colour temperatures and the swirls above the car. One of the most eye-catching rig shots I've seen for ages.

hello folks. Loving this thread, my cuppa tea!!! I've made a rig, 4.5M works well but need a wider lens than my 18mm on a cropped sensor. Curenntly using window suction cups which makes me very nervous. I've had a good look through but i cant seem to find, can some-one tell me which of these two would be best to use.

i already have a couple of super clamps for the rig im using so i think thats all i need to have a bit more trust in the whole set up.
Here is my first ever attempt at a rig shot, in the dark, in the work van. I might have slightly lowered it a bit in photoshop aswell.

Will you be shooting in the dark? Will you be able to get a decent exposure?

If anything easier as shooting the dark requires a longer exposure anyway.

i have recently upgraded my boom to 4.5m

its great, hardly any bounce. really tempted to get another section and go to 6M but will need some sort of stabiliser cable etc...

thanks for the reply, thats not a bad price. ill invest it those next month. but for this month my homemade jobby hasnt done too bad, ive been quite pleased. Here is what i shot on my first attempt. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

I got all the wire and bits from http://www.tecni-cable.co.uk/ I bolted one of these lifting eyebolts through the pipe and hooked the cable onto it. Eyebolt

Not sure as I haven't really used the rig yet, but it definately stops the droop of the 6M boom. I use these to adjust the tension on the kit.

Did a couple more tonight, still using just 2.5m, need to make the connectors so I can get up to 6m.

Square tube flexes a lot less but can be more awkward for the clamp to grip.

Made some connectors and my rig is now 3.5m, going to try it this weekend.
