Notice There's gon' be some new sheriffs in town

And right now, anyone stumbling on TP for the first time and clicking on the Gallery is going to get a very peculiar impression of what this site is about:

Perhaps just filter out everything without a specific tag (no personal albums or Classifieds, and maybe no General)?
Looks about right to me

this is just

You know how mods can give people custom titles...

Well 1st order of business is to give them custom images...

That's my good deed for the month done then!!!

well - I do know that @Roberts will be pleased, where else would he have got such an easy job... Don't think he's come out of his Butlers Pantry since early 2015...

The key to my position, Sir, Is to always be there, but never noticed or obtrusive... Nobody has complained that the Port Decanters in F&C have run dry - ergo, I must have been there on a very regular basis.

The trick is to top up the decanters when they'll take about 3/4 of a bottle. One must then find a way to "dispose" of the remainder in an environmentally friendly manner.

Ah yes, the "red wine as a developing agent" method.

I was wondering if there were any developments since the big thread a few weeks ago, and I'm so pleased about this great news! Thank you Marcel, and thank you @Cobra, @Lindsay56 and @sirch, (or Chris, Lindsay and Chris. :p ) for taking it over and keeping this marvellous site alive.

Forums are of course different things to different people.

For me, TP is a the place to learn and to share knowledge and the one area in which I feel TP could improve is to increase the static content. And, speaking of knowledge, our large, disparate group of people is able to provide good advice on a massive range of subjects. Just as an example, I’ve just been given vital info on identifying a very specialised cutting tool that has nothing to do with photography, and previously I’ve been given invaluable help with choosing a two-way emergency radio system for use on our farm, which paid for itself with one 10-second call that started out with “Fire, fire, fire main gate top field”.

Personally, I’m not interested in posting photos or in either giving or receiving critique, but to many people, this is what it’s all about. Others are passionate about photo equipment, which again leaves me cold, some people like to express their views on superstition religion or support a particular political party and personally I think that TP was a better place before this was allowed, but I do have the option of ignoring those posts . . .

From what I’ve read, the three members who are now taking over (which will cost them a lot of time and money) intend to keep the existing ethos in place, which is excellent, and I wish them all the best. As always, they have my full support and I’ll be happy to help in any way possible

@Garry Edwards I have been thinking along the same lines regarding the more informative, educational static posts/threads, which are often buried in generic topics. I'll put that on our "to be discussed" list.

I'm not quite sure how this could be "managed"
There are a lot of specific talk sub forums full of information,
and without sounding like a young upstart, there is a very good search function too.

Having said that its not a bad idea, and certainly food for thought.

Thanks Garry :)

Well, a long time ago, in a country far away, a very large photo forum concentrated on getting all of the really useful member contributions into one place, where everyone could find them easily, and it worked brilliantly for a while, and if the site had continued to be run in the way that TP is run, it would be great.

Unfortunately it was sold to a large business that used it solely for advertising revenue, and it went downhill. I'll send you more info by PM.

There are certain forumites (no names, no pack drill) who seem to feed ole snake eyes pretty darned well. However, since I am now known for stepping up to the plate, I shall henceforth ensure it is a well-laden plate. I believe Jaffa cakes and HobNobs are de rigeur?

I believe so (certainly looked like it last time I saw him!) but I think he also enjoys a small, furry snack from time to time, hence Ms. S-H's request - she's fed up of having to crawl back out while he's asleep...

Watch out for those hamsters! They have sharp teeth and don't let go, first stitches I ever had were where I tore the hamster off my thumb !!!!

I think that you might have been slightly over provisioned judging from the latest photo of you:

I thought it was considered good practice to double check everything, to prevent mistakes?

Not when its blatantly obvious :D

Rule #1 - Adminnies never make mistakes.
Rule #2 - Should an Adminnie be in or make an error, Rule #1 applies.

True. Adninnies are infallible.

As is my typing in this post :exit:

As we have new adminies (god that autocorrects to adore, which is a whole other thread) is it time to lose the 'nudes and glamour' section?. I know its a valid genre of photography but its not exactly busy and I think, the quality of comments is detrimental to the quality of TP as a whole.

I don't see an issue

Lots of things are being discussed Hugh, as to the direction we want to go, but tbh we 3 need a settling in period.
So nothing much will change in the near future..

I think I prefer your adNinnies to adMinnies!!!

They're not infallible - but they can never fail...

I've had an itchy hatch for that long I can't even remember what it refers to but I dread to think what the image will be
