Personally I think pictures are better. You see a name and unless you know that persons name it means nothing. Surely if you know the person enough to nominate them you know some of the good photos they took. Go find the perfect one.
 
It is not that i dont know the pictures, it is the time and effort of trawling through all the past threads to find them again :thumbs:

Take, for instance, Landscapes. I cant think of a good picture from there so I am going to have to go through them all to find one. Where as if we did photographers, I know excatly who would get my vote :thumbs:

Okay then, have you ever posted this photo on ere before? or can I link straight to your flickr? or does it have to be a photo posted by the said photographer on TP?
 
One other thing to consider is that maybe the picture I choose is a one off wonder and nothing like what the photographer normally produces?

I would rather vote for a photographer who has produced consistant results than a photograph :thumbs:

Well take the time :) I can't think of a specific good macro shot cos I don't like icky bugs or pansy flowers so I stay out of there. Not into sports, so thats out. Animals / nature, dunno. I don't even know the members who take good photos. Well, I know CT does good bird photos and I know scraggs takes awesome macros. But are there others? In some ways its good because you are forced to look around the forum.

As is that. seijones has spent god knows how long up a mountain photographing it and HIMUPNORTH has spent hours pottering about in the sky. They both take amazing photos. But they could both be beaten by that 1 shot, that one really truely amazing shot. Its possible and I hope they would feel happy to be beaten by such an amazing shot. Right place, right time, right talent. That makes the best shots.
 
the thing about it being individual photos is then we might as well take the best shots from the TPF photo competitions from each month..

but anyway, we probably should stop discussing it before we drive Marcel mental :)

I cant believe how many people are voting for me, I am really chuffed! And not just in one category too ;) :lol:
 
To be fair, there was a discussion for the categories for ages, and no one picked up on it then :shrug:

I don't think I'm going to be able to please everyone, some want photos, some want photographers. However, it was photos that was the original category, and that was the spirit in which it was intended (You'll notice it follows the forum categories too ;)), so it's gonna have to stay as photos.

That was what it was originally intended :)

Come on people, this is quite a poor response. Nominations were supposed to close tonight, but as a result of the lack of nominations, I'm going to leave it open for another week.

Nominations will now close on Sunday the 28th.

Can those few who have already nominated (thankyou btw), come back and edit your posts, finishing off your nominations.
 
Ive updated mine, I couldn't find half the pics I wanted to nominate, so Ive removed my notes and left in my definate nominations.

Have another bump, come on people!!!!

Same as me, I found a couple of pictures but the rest have evaded me!!
 
I just haven't managed to find the time to go through all the photos yet. But have put my nominations in so far
 
Doh. My plan was to do this while Top Gear was on. Talk about picking the wrong time. Ho well. I'd like to thank everyone who voted for me, apart from those who voted for me as the forum villian as you're just mean :p
 
Pete, you had ages to do it! I am glad I voted for you as the villian now :p
 
I did and I decided to set some time aside to get it done. I didn't notice that the deadline was 8pm rather than midnight.
