Unknown Device on Mac

I got a similar issue where, at a given point, my main
machine started to behave strangely and showing files
I've never seen before.

Some research took me to https://www.malwarebytes.com.

The problem was resolved and my MAC feels good again.

Are you sure to not your macbook of had anybody around with a laptop recently.

I have a few macs in the house and I found an unexplained PC on the shared list. Turns out it was a friend of my son who came round with his laptop. He obviously had sharing enabled and my Mac picked it up.

Thats exactly what it'll be. Possible a neighbour. I've got loads by me.

If you're setting up your new mac, perhaps it's your old machine you didn't know was set to shared?

Click on the WiFi icon on the top menu bar and see if there is a a router with the same ID. Most normally ident the router with the providers name. BT use Home Hub, EE I believe use Brightbox. It may be a local router that for some reason has been added to your side bar. Was the mac brand new? Could it have been used ( even temporarily ) elsewhere. Even just as a check that everything is OK
