My website is getting desperately out of date, and I just don't feel like scrapping and rebuilding my whole gallery every few weeks.

On flickr I have a few "portfolio" sets that I keep fairly up to date. Is there any way to use these sets on my website, and integrate them seamlessly? I would prefer to keep a similar style but would be OK to change it if necessary.

It may be a bonus to integrate selling platform for framed pictures or downloads, although getting good traffic may be challenging.

If you would have any other comments about my site structure I would appreciate it.

Thank you.

It would be pretty easy to embed images from Flickr inside your portfolio site (given Flickr's level of access to the image URL/HTML). The only real problem I think you'll face is with Flickr's Community Guidelines. You are required to link-back to Flickr from any image posted on another site:

"Remember! Flickr Community Guidelines specify that if you post a Flickr photo on an external website, the photo must link back to its photo page." (from Flickr)

I can't imagine this looking very professional on your portfolio site. You'd either have to allow the user to navigate away from your site (not what you want!) or open the Flickr page in a pop-up (probably annoying!).

Have you considered a hosting company such as ZenFolio, SmugMug etc? They make life pretty easy!

Hope this is helpful.

For now this would do for now, as long as there is no extra text or logos displayed. I am quite reluctant using other sites as I would need reuploading and updating everything twice.

Is there any code I could use?

one thing you might want to be careful of..

Don’t use your account to host web graphics like logos and banners.
Your account will be terminated if we find you using it to host graphic elements of web page designs, icons, smilies, buddy icons, forum avatars, badges, and other non-photographic elements on external web sites.

Don’t use Flickr for commercial purposes.
Flickr is for personal use only. If we find you selling products, services, or yourself through your photostream, we will terminate your account. Any other commercial use of Flickr, Flickr technologies (including APIs, FlickrMail, etc), or Flickr accounts must be approved by Flickr. For more information on leveraging Flickr APIs, please see our Services page. If you have other open questions about commercial usage of Flickr, please feel free to contact us.

might be worth dropping them an email to check exactly what youre allowed to do..

First, we need to know whether or not your app is commercial.

Choose Non-Commercial if:

  • Your app doesn't make money.
  • Your app makes money, but you're a family-run, small, or independent business.
  • You're developing a product which is not currently commercial, but might be in the future.
  • You're building a personal website or blog where you are only using your own images.
Well they contredict themselves a bit... I am confused. I will see if the 2nd link gives good results to start with.
