Vegas...... you'll either hate it or love it:) There are some fantastic photo opportunities not only in vegas itself but as others have mentioned Red Rock Canyon.
Also try Death Valley (Awesome Scenery) which isn't too far away.
Also try a Helicopter trip to the Canyon. Get a one that actually lands and lets you out as there are some that just do a fly-by.

One thing for sure is you'll be knackered when you get back.Vegas is live 24/7. Enjoy yourself:)

oops forgot to mention........you will definitely need a car to get you around, unless you just want to stay on the strip itself.

You can get a mono rail pass that will let you travel up and down the strip all day and night. The crossroads at the MGM Grand is great for night photo's, in fact pretty much any part of Vegas is great at night.

Palomino Club?

Get up the Stratophire (down town Vegas) to get great pix of the Strip.

Dinner up there's not cheap, but the view pays for itself.

Motor Muesum at the Imperial Hotel.. is fab. The cars are for sale too!!! We spent a good 4hrs looking.. photo-ing!!! very interesting.

All the main Hotels have something going on 'FREE' shows outside. Treasure Island.. get there early so you get on the front row.. where the girls not wearing much are!!

Its awesome.

plenty to see and do that's free :)

longer than 5 days it might do your head in though.

we had 5 days the first time we went in 2006.
In 2009.. we had a week, maybe spoilt cus we know what was there so didn't need to cram it all in, but you do get tried of it.

If you can, go see the KA show at MGM.

Make sure you go in every hotel to look around. Its an eye opener.

Now I have a DSLR, I'd like to take the same photos again lol
2006 I had a canon IxusII
2009 I had a canon Ixus90is

The best high shots of the strip can be had from atop the Eiffel Tower. Go up twice. During daytime and again at night. Or just hang around up there from late afternoon through to darkness if your circumstances permit [family etc]. There are cutouts in the grille to poke a lens through. Don't worry if it's crowded when you get up there. People don't hang around too long and you'll soon get to poke your lens through your chosen holes. The Bellagio, opposite, has the fountain display every 30mins after dark, and it lasts about 5 mins. You can get some good shots of it from above, assuming you get your settings correct.
