walk about

would rather have 4 batterie's sometime's i go out for a good few hours so can kill between 1 - 2 battries

rather go over board then not

Bloody hell i only have 1 battery and i never even come close to running it flat when out and about, last year i did my Highland trip with lots of long exposures and only charged it once before i headed off for the 10 day tour

Ok my new D90 eats it up quicker but not by much, am i missing something here?

Thought i better answer the question too..

Nikon D90
Sigma 10-20 with hood
Tamron 17-55 2.8 with hood
Nikon 55-200 with hood
Nikon 50 1.8
SB600
Hoya Pro-1 Circular Polarisers 77mm + 67mm
Various other 52mm filters
5 x Hitech Filters with holders / adapter rings
Wireless remote
Lens pens, cleaning cloths
Rocket blower
Finger-less gloves

All packed away in my Lowepro Slingshot 200AW (its like a tardis)

If walkabout with specific landscapes in mind Redsnapper 283 tripod with ball head comes along in its own bag

Thinking about a lightweight monopod for general walk about duties

must have dodgy battery's

As much as my bag will hold. I then pick it up and decide I can do without x, y and z. ;)

I don't normally have a fixed set of stuff to take out with me, I normally go out with shots in mind and take the equipment to suit

5D MK 1, 50mm 1.4 and the dog! for shortish walkabout.
7D 70-200 2.8L IS and the dog for countryside walk.

But we all know that it can vary on the day!!

Someone once told me that "The lens you will need is the one you forgot to bring" - so i carry everything, including a couple of choccy bars !! :)

i do need to get some cleaning wipes and a blower though, my zoom filter is absolutely filthy !!

Lowepro altus 160 bag
Nikon D90
18-200mm vr2
50mm 1.8D
spare battery
2x 4gb cards

Canon 40D
Canon 18-200mm IS on camera
Canon 50mm f1.8 in pocket
Just one full charged battery in the camera

If I'm out for a walk, I'll almost certainly have either just a compact or the full MiniTrekker which generally contains:-
D700 (or D70 if it's likely to be a tele walk. Or sometimes both!)
8mm Fisheye (doesn't get used every day but there's nothing that can replicate the shots from it)
12-24
24-70 (usually fitted to the body)
70-200
&/or 70-300VR
If I'm pretty sure I'll want it, I'll try to persuade my wife to carry the 150-500 OS but if I do manage, I make damned sure I use it!!!
90mm Macro
50mm f/1.8 if I'm expecting very low light.
1 spare battery (maybe 2 if I'm carrying both bodies)
Around 16GB of memory (More than enough since I shoot JPEG rather than faffing about with raw.
Circ Pols.
Blower brush.
Lens cleaning kit.
Torch & spare batteries for it.
Manfrotto 190 Pro B with 322 head (if I'm pretty sure I'll be needing it) or GorillaPod SLR Zoom with ball head if I'm less certain I'll need a tripod.

Voigtlander Bessa + one lens(either 35mm or 50mm but mostly the 35mm)
Yashica T4 Zoom
Couple of films(HP5+, Neopan, Superia X-tra)
... thats it!

or with the Nikon D40x with kit lens
extra 4/8GB memory card
and possibly the SB-600 flash

For a daytime wander:

Camera
17 - 85 lens (on camera)
70 - 300 lens (in bag)
spare battery

For evening / sunset / night wander:

above + tripod and small led torch.
