WAMT....what annoyed me today!

WAMT was a mild annoyance to me, much mitigated by the fact that it was a gorgeous day, had been a lovely drive and the fact that someone had a far better reason to be annoyed than me...

We went up to Wiscombe Park for the VSCC's annual hillclimb meeting there but saw no racing and only heard (and smelled - gotta love Castrol R!!!) 2 or 3 cars running. Just before we got there, car #155 had been hurled into the undergrowth, breaking the driver's leg in the process. It's not the fact that we saw no racing that annoyed me, it was the attendance of 3 police cars, a police van and a police motorcyclist to a motor racing accident, slowing down the recovery of the car to the point where after 4 hours there, we had to leave. The injured driver had been taken away by air ambulance fairly soon after we got there.

Not that he's likely to see this post but mend well and as fast as possible, Mr Crabb and I hope the ERA is fixable!

I've never had one like that .If I could stop 'Easyvoyage Travel' from Emailing me it would account for 95% of the junk. They go directcly into junk.
 
I had something like this years ago. Back when I could be bothered I had a few skills myself and managed to trace the approximate location of the sender, well the city anyway. I couldn't tell you how I did it now as I seem to care less about tech every day. I suppose it's easier to hide your location these days so maybe I wont be able to track this sender down and tell him to expect a visit. Might be nice to though.

Old Warden Airshow - these are normally excellent with a great range of planes and atmosphere. Not any more.

They did 'drive in' airshows where you have a 'box' to be in during covid, fair enough, but they are still doing this now! So that rules out the show for me as I dont want to be in one place all the time, I want to be able to move along the runway fence to get different angles and shots of take off as well as in the sky. Its fine if you just want to watch the planes but not for photography!!!

I suggest this is due to the recipients dying of boredom before they got anywhere near reading all of it. I can't criticise Prince William's attendence at the Opening of Parliament today because that's protocol.

Fortunately, we'll be in a remote part of Scotland when it takes place.

There's also reported the anxiety that Prince William is feeling about what Prince Harry and Meghan might divulge re the private/family conversations post Jubilee events that will find their way onto Netflix, another Oprah interview or into Prince Harry's upcoming book. It's setting the scene for even more media coverage should Harry and Meghan not disappoint.. ie..par for the course.

I complained to my local Dr surgery about a change in procedures that we were not consulted or informed about and today I received a replay and I'm absolutely fuming.

Whilst "she" accepted that we were not informed and apologised and said that this shouldn't have happened and procedures have been put in place to stop this happening again etc what about consultation and consent? I'll raise these points in another written letter.

This is what got me fuming...

"After listening to your call.... it appears that she did try to explain this process and... that you could..."

She goes on...

"I am sorry if you feel that this was not conveyed to you in a way that you understood."

I find this condescending, arrogant and at best a misrepresentation and playing with words or it could be just how it appears, a lie. She may have tried to explain but what came out of her mouth wasn't what is implied here. At no point did I interrupt or talk over here so I didn't miss anything and when I asked the relevant direct question the definite answer I got back was "No." The implied lack of understanding is BS. I understood perfectly well what was said.

This sums up the more negative contacts with the NHS and Dr in recent years. Yup, there's good but when things go wrong they can be arrogant, overly defensive, borderline incompetent and willing to lie.

I will write back as I've been offered the opportunity of changing to the old system and that's what I'll do but I really want to let rip after reading this BS but of course I can't as the end result could well be them banning me and my mother. I am not impressed and will be making that clear, in a polite and hoping not to get banned way.

When did you discover this? did they not make it clear at booking? I think I would have been equally upset at this, wandering around during such events is something I like to do as well. standing in a box by my car - no thanks !!!!

We have a Ring doorbell. Usually, if Sue is out, I answer on my phone and lat them know I'm on my way down. By the time I get there, the package is on the doorstep and the van is disappearing down the road.

Yesterday, I answered, saying that I was on my way down. Imagine m surprise when I opened the door and the guy was stood there, waiting to hand me the package! :eek:
 
Got a delivery from evri (hermes) today, could see the van in the drive but not the driver! then the door bell rang, mentioned to him he must part time as a ninja and laughed, later went to go out and garage door would not open with remote, found handle turned to lock position, delivery man had obviously been going to dump it in the garage without attempting the doorbell but garage door would not open so he had to come to the door.
 
A dad,I presume, travelling along the road on an E-Scooter with his three year old (approx) standing infront of him. If he's going to do that then,at least, ensure the safety of the child by having her wear a cycle helmet. A fall from that scooter,even at 15mph could casuse the child some nasty injuries..apart from a head injury.

Ordered some car parts from a company with a co.uk web address, so assumed it was British based. Nope, it’s actually German, something that doesn’t become obvious until you get a delivery advice email. Loads of complaints on Trustpilot about this, which stupidly I didn’t read until after I’d ordered. They’re actually called a different trading name in Germany, which is concealed until you get the paperwork.

Parts take two weeks to arrive (covid/transport issues/no ferry service/Brexit… take your pick, they’ve used every excuse so far). When I try to fit them they’re incorrect for my car.

But hold on, I’ve taken out the “easy return option”! It’s £6 extra, but it means I just click a button on their website to initiate a return and they cover the return postage costs. It takes three messages and a week before they even reply. Terrible company with a very misleading website. Avoid buycarparts.co.*k
 
Another power cut. Sorted in a couple of hours but still a PITA for Mrs Nod since she was on a long Zoom meeting and had to try to follow it on her phone!
 
Turned on the TV to have an afternoon of watching the Giro, WSBks on Eurosport.
What do I get on both channels ... Neanderthals grunting and battering a yellow round thing from one end of a soil patch to the other all the while being screeched at in an incomprehensible language by a bod in a high chair.
I really do hate Tennis
 
Not today but last weekend it was a fun run around the Ipswich waterfront so I was out taking photos for my blog. I use a wheelchair and it is often a problem when busy that no one gets out of the way. However, I bumped up the curb and the tyre on one of my front wheels came off. Now these are little hard rubber things. I stopped and put the wheelchair on its side and tried to fix it. With everybody around, not one person stopped and asked if they could help! Fortunately, there is a bike shop on the Waterfront and they fixed it for me without charge so there was a bit of comfort. It's funny though, because when I am going through any door that I use every day, anyone close dashes to help but when I needed help...

I can sympathise with you, however some years ago we were walking along a gravel path by a lake shore and we caught up with a man in a wheelchair who was clearly having difficulty in making progress. I politely asked if I could assist him and was shocked at the aggressive, abusive and rude response I received. We left him struggling and continued walking, moments later behind us I heard another walker receiving the same response.
 
Yesterday I went down a dirt track to a railway crossing to photograph the blue Midland Pullman which was en-route up north. This is what was there right by the crossing.The track is the other side of the trees.

:mad::mad::mad: other than reporting it to your local authority there is sadly squat to done about fly-tipping :(

Seeing the residential domestic nature of the above, it conjures up in my mind of someone paying 'man with pickup truck' claiming that they clear waste......just being the fly-tipping culprit

i just wish they could catch the scroats and IMO ban them from driving for min 5 years and fine them very heavily........what little one hears/reads of those caught, it does not seem much of a deterrent!

I'm sure I heard on the radio not long ago that the government are allocating ring-fenced money to LAs so they can collect bulky items free of charge so bad has this problem become. It was obvious from the day LAs decided one way to recoup some of the lost central government funding was to charge for bulky items. Here in Gloucester it's £25 per item. A three piece suite is,at least considered one item.I know someone who put out a settee and armchair and a week later called the council to say it had been dumped . It was duly collected.

Two years ago I went to a viewing spot that gives a great view east. I was photographing a thunderstorm.Someone had dumped a bin liner full of rubbish. If I'm at a spot like this I'll pick up litter..usually pop cans and crisp packets.I keep a bag in the boot for that purpose along with an sturdy pair of gloves .I take the items home and put them in the bin or with the cans and plastic bottles in the recycle box. I took home this full bin liner and when I was sorting it I found personal details on some paper items. Invitations to a wedding would you believe it. I Googled names and to cut a long story short took my evidence to the council and gave a statement. The cuplrit was fined/charged £200 they told me. I'm not sure but I think that payment was the alternative to going to court. When we go to Cornwall on holiday..right on the coast near Lizard..I do a daily beach clean,too. The council have placed a huge bin..45 gallon drum size.. at the top of the beach/cove by the road.As you can imagine there's no litter in our road..well our end of it :D This morning I've picked up two drinks cans and one of those huge drinks plastic beakers along with the lid and straw stuck in.

I thought that the Giro was supposed to be on Eurosport 2 (411) at 12:45, I'm glad I subscribe to Eurosport Player and didn't miss the stage well worth £40 for ad free or even better if I miss a stage live I can watch it on catch-up with little or no chance of someone telling me the outcome.
